I KNOW LOCAL STATIONS ARE GOING TO HAVE A BIG HOLD TO FILL NOW THAT ACCESS HOLLYWOOD HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Please stop shouting.
This has been discussed to death in the thread about NBCUniversal discontinuing first-run syndication in the aftermath of Kelly Clarkson quitting her show.
A lot of stations in smaller markets are going to have the bigger problem in filling the Access Hollywood time slots ... while larger stations could conceivably do an extra half-hour of news (for example, KNBC/4 in L.A. already does a local half-hour newscast between NBC Nightly News and Access Hollywood) as the market size declines, so do available resources for that.
I have also offered the opinion that Access Hollywood might simply be transferred to the NBC Owned Stations division and continue in production. But if that option is to be exercised, it will have to be soon as the new season is now less than six months away.
And it's "hole" not "HOLD".
I wonder if NBC would let O&Os and affiliates air the live national news from NBC’s streaming channel NBC News Now?
That's a possibility, unless there are contractual issues preventing it. There is too much we simply do not know at this point.
