Talent You Miss

From a South Jersey native, greetings from Oklahoma!

Here's one...Bill Bircher...mornings on CAU in the 60s...later, I think at WTTM, Trenton...am I right?

And the incredible pipes of Bill Hart!

Great lists. I have to echo John Lander and one of his co-hosts, Patty Steele.

Also, Michelle Polino of Star 104.5. I think she, Craig Allen and the weather guy from Channel 29 co-hosted mornings at some point.

I know Brian Murphy is on B-101, but I miss the style he used (quick, one-liner wise cracks) he used on Eagle 106 and Electric 106.

i would jus like to stete that bill gregory is my grandfather. & i am very proud to be his granddaughter

I would say John DeBella..He use to do a great morning show before the Stern funeral. Now, he is just another jock reading cards. What a shame...he use to be great.

Just a few more...

Geoff Fox (WPEN)
Long John Wade (WIBG)
Kris Chandler (WUSL - Remember "You're on U-S 1")
Jay Cook (WFIL)
Allen Stone
Wynn Moore (WWDB)

I think you & I are the only people who remember Bill Bircher. He had a wonderful dry sense of humor & was a great morning man at WCAU. He was on later at WTMR (Camden - Cherry Hill) owned by Tommy Roberts.

I remember Bill Bircher on WCAU & WTMR also. Does anyone remember the lineup at WTMR in their MOR days? I think there were other WCAU and major local talents that went there - it was hard for them to compete as a daytimer, and a lot of the day was given to horse race results with Tommy Roberts as owner and race reporter. I wonder how much the FCC shutdown of WXUR caused WTMR to become a religious station with the Rev. Dr. Carl McIntire on several times a day including his network feed and live at noon, the rest of the format seemed to get built around him.
Actually his live shows were in a way entertaining as he ranted about politics, racial issues, the FCC, Nixon, and begged for money and affiliates. Today they still run his taped sermons but they lack the real 'fire' of his live phone in shows. (Typical show- caller: "Dr. McIntire, I'd like to give $100 and F*** you" (no delay on); McIntire: "That's another of our harassers out there"; next caller: "Dr. McIntire, I'd like to give $50.00 in honor of that harasser that just called in"; McIntire, hanging up on caller without response: "$50.00 - who else has $5.00 they can send me...")

Add another person who remembers Birch. I actually had the pleasure of working with him for a couple of years at WHWH. You're right! He had a very dry sense of humor and was a classic MOR DJ in the WNEW mold. He was also, for his time and in his own way, kind of a rebel. He was pretty well-known for going his own way, regardless of what management told him to do. He also had a very loyal following throughout Philly and south and central Jersey.

Does anybody know where Bill went after WHWH? I kind of remember him going to another central Jersey station but then being sued by Nassau for breaking some kind of non-compete. Does anybody recall the details of that?

Anyone heard from Lynn Kratz? She took a job at MMR and that was the last we heard from her.

Does anyone have details about Mark Drucker's death? I used to work with him at WLIR-FM when they were in Hempstead, LI>

There you go again, Sam. Can't stay away from the sarcasm and arrogance, can you?

Last seen at Tony Luke's. Then, mysteriously disappeared after a late night cheese steak run, and wasn't heard from again. Irv Homer was never the same.
