Sure, it will never win awards for local content. I have to wonder if something local would be cost effective and work on this station. I was listening last night as we traveled to a friends home near the zoo. As we traveled up 315, the signal started to go downhill at Antrim Park. By the time we got to 270, the ingress was pretty heavy and in certain parts of the drive was as loud as the 1230 signal. Even in the higher elevations as we got closer to Dublin, the signal did not improve that much. They have real trouble in many parts of the wealthier and growing areas of the County. Spilling into Delaware County, they are almost don't exist. Daytime they are competitive.

But overall, they've got the best lineup of remaining available syndicated folks.

I found it interesting they are putting Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard back to back on Sunday.

At least these two are live on weekends:
Ron Wilson (from WKRC and XM Sat)
At Home" with Gary Sullivan (from Premiere Radio Networks)

WYTS should be aware that they are about to get a boatload of free publicity...
They'll probably bring sandwiches and hot chocolate outside if somebody will get that picket line formed!

Weekdays

Saturdays
5:00pm-6:00pm Money Talks with Bob Brinker

Glad to see these two shows back on the air. Money Talk is great ...... but why only 1 hour?

What ever happened to Bruce Williams? Is he still on the air? (His answer to everything was "Get a Lawyer!")

9:00am-12:00pm Laura Ingraham
12:00pm-3:00pm Jim Rome
3:00pm-6:00pm Dave Ramsey
6:00pm-10:00pm Michael Savage
10:00am-1:00am Jim Bohannon

That weekday lineup represents some wacky audience flow issues right there. I can't imagine there are many listeners who would be fans of consecutive shows in that lineup. This won't be a "turn it on and leave it on all the time" kind of station.

Laugh all you want, Harry. But the first check to Clear Channel Akron/Canton went in the mail yesterday.

And lest one think live streams on the web aren't the wave of the future, he/she would have a hard time explaining why a radio message board is so popular and a live radio stream isn't.

Will I be laughing all the way to the bank? Stay tuned.

Rome seems out of place to me at Noon-3. Ramsey has prooved himself worthy of live slots (partial in this case) recently but I doubt that the Jim Rome listener is going to stay tuned for Ramsey...or the Ingraham listener stay tunded for Rome. Very odd.

I wasn't there but Dave called into the Stephanie Miller Show during the protest and said
that about 100 people joined the protest.

It's amazing how people count things sometimes ..... just ask someone what he thinks his used car or his house is worth when he's trying to sell it!

100? lol Maybe if you count passers by, and the normal statehouse lawn crowd!

I am not a ClearChannel fan. I am not a Tom Thon fan. I do not like all this syndicated crap in the market when there are plenty of people with the drive, talent, experience and desire to get ratings and create revenue sitting right here in central Ohio, begging for a chance to do the job.

With that said, Ann Fisher mocking Tom Thon loses all credibility when I read the last 2 sentences of her column:

"Change is nothing new. What central Ohio listeners crave now is an actual choice. "

So SHE has everybody figured out just like Thon does, right?

ClearChannel is NOT a government agency. They do not exist to appease the whining masses. They exist to make money and they have every right to program their staions in a way that they think will accomplish that goal.

There is no RIGHT to a liberal radio staion, or for that matter a Spanish language station or a "Gay Talk" station, or an "all polka all the time" station. There may be those that would like to see something in the market that does not esist, but unless they are ready to step up and buy a station and program that station and risk their money on their theory, what they want matters not!

If there is to be liberal talk on the airwaves in Columbus, perhaps Ms. Fisher should speak with the people at the Dispatch Broadcast Group and explain to them why they should use one of THEIR electronic media outlets to fill that void.

OhioMAJORITYradio? OK, as long as I can identify myself as a skinny, good-looking guy in a designer suit.

Exactly. I am what one would term a liberal but I don't EXPECT anyone to carry liberal talk in Columbus. I also like 90's alternative music but don't EXPECT anyone to carry that format to appease me. If liberals don't like the lack of liberal talk in Columbus, put your money where your mouth is and put it on the air yourself.

I think the only SLIGHTLY legitimate complaint is that CC didn't really promote the station with billboards etc. but again it goes back to "their station, their prerogative". If that were the case sports fans should complain that they didn't give The Zone a fair shake and business heads should complain they didn't give FYI a fair shake. It's their throwaway signal. Nothing they have ever put on there gets top billing.

CBusDave,

Before I called you a liberal, I would call you a THINKING PERSON. We need more of those in the world. No argument from me on the lack of committment shown by CC for EVERYTHING they have done on 1230. It is indeed a throwaway and I wish they would throw it to someone that would do something with it.
