Talk on FM. It's a waste

Ref. Big A; Music stations on FM pay ASCAP and BMI fees which in turn pay the artists their royalties.

Only if those artists wrote the songs they perform. It's a songwriter royalty.

Do the writers get anything "live performances" of song they wrote and somebody else is singing? I do not think so. Traditionally the preforming artists are suppose to get $$$ from the fees from the concert performer. The writer get "publishing" money (ASCAP, BMI, SECAC etc) and "sheet" music sales. It is the job of the record company to screw both out of their money. IMHO if there is a recording artist fee deal, the artist will be lucky to see 5%!

One other reason you have Talkers moving to FM is in many markets your AM Talker is only 1kw,maybe 2.5 or 5kw and the NOISE has just become unbearable.Stations like 50kw WABC,WFAN or WCBS are the exception rather than the rule...most of these AM Frequencies & Low Power in many markets are virtually useless.

Objection!
Our experience with a bunch of markets is that the first tier of stations at the bottom of the dial is usually n/t, sports is a close second, then religeous, ethnic, and finally everything else. The stations are not as strong as in the apple, but usually distributed nearly the same.
