Talkers Top 100 Hosts

Wow, was i wrong!

I can't believe Savage remained #3 following a disastrous year for his radio show. he was dropped by a lot of stations it the top 20 markets.

Kim Komando is on the list but Leo Laporte isn't? What's up with that?

(He's a very respectable #33 on Mediaite's list, though.)

I can't believe Huckabee is #58! He's only been on the air a week. What's the criteria for the list, or is it a "who you know" deal?
Same criteria for Nobel Peace Prizes, I reckon.
Good choice of words, "reckon", just as they did with the Nobel Peace Prize when they gave it to Carter because they didn't want to give it to Bush.

All of these awards have been co-opted by the corrupted, pointy-headed, self-centered, flat-earth, egocentric, America hating, tea & crumpet, "intellectuals".

Yes, maybe they're going by potential to be important rather than someone who has already
accomplished success in the past year, etc.! Unless they're taking into account his TV show,
but this is a radio list. Jumping the gun?

Not everybody can do radio.

I have always laughed at the importance many seem to place on this silly list.

As many posters here have already pointed out, there seems to be little rhyme or reason to the way this list is compiled. It's just more of the talkers club predictable circle-you-know-what.

To be honest, I don't know how Michael Harrison ever became such an expert on a format he barely participated in.

Maybe this is why Talkers waited conveniently until after the first week of Huckabee's radio show to release their annual "Heavy Hundred" list this year? Think about it, Huck on the list when it was released on its usual February date might have been a bit odd - and all he'd have at that point, as far as radio was concerned, were those commentaries he's been doing a la Harvey.

Michael Harrison made a name for himself in Rock and Roll radio stations. He programmed a number of the most respected stations in the country. Name a successful Rock stations from years ago, his name is probably attached to it.

My point exactly.

Veiled references to him in Jim Ladd's book are hysterical.

I'll bet they were since Jim Ladd (KLOS, now with sat), and Michael Harrison (KMET, etc) were usually in competition with one another in L.A.

Ladd writes about the period where he and Harrison were both at KMET. Granted he doesn't name him outright, but I've known some people who also worked there during that time and they all said the individual Ladd was referring to in some of these stories was definitely Harrison. He wasn't named because the stories were not flattering.

I also heard Michael Harrison was the subject of the Carly Simon song "You're So Vain". ;D j/k
