Anybody else think that it's a little odd that a family oriented store like Target would use the anal sex anthem "Baby Got Back" for its campaign to sell back to school backpacks to teenagers?

I thought it was just a big booty song, but I never really listened to the words. Nevertheless, I kinda wondered the same thing. What's next, Home Depot using "Windows to the Walls" (Get Low) for their new home improvement campaign?

But it's not Baby Got Back, it's their own song sung by someone who SOUNDS like Sir-Mix-A-Lot, with the lyrics changed to G rated lyrics.

And "Baby got back" is not an anal sex anthem, it is a song about big butts.

FWIW, I thought it was just a song about liking big butts, myself. But the version in the commercial is customized for Target. I was surprised to hear it, but I thought about it, and I realized that it's probably just about time that the people who would have heard the original "Baby Got Back" when it was popular are having kids and having to buy supplies for said kids. So I think it makes sense. Plus, Target is viewed as the more forward, edgier department store, so I think it doesn't hurt the brand at all.
I don't have kids, but I do shop at Target regularly, and I thought the commercial was just fun and energetic.

It would work except for one thing...Home Depot's color scheme is Orange and white, now if they had blue in there..... =)

Another commercial could be for Sherwin-Williams paint...."Strokin'" by Clarence Carter...<P ID="signature">______________

How about Dick's Sporting Goods Store using AC/DC's "Big Balls" as part of its ad campaign??
---Now there's an idea for ya!! You think any of the suits from Dick's reads this message board?

I thought of that too. Many of my friends now have kids in Middle School, and many of those dads heard Sir Mix A Lot when he came out with the Booty Anthem.
Smart move!
