Taylor Swift Returns to Country

On its way to #1!
Probably, but not certainly. Some songs that have had big first weeks -- thanks to deals labels make with big chains to play new songs every two hours for several days -- don't connect as hoped when placed in normal rotation. Lainey Wilson's "Hang Tight Honey" debuted in the top 25 its first week after such a push, but stiffed so badly with listeners that the label had to send another song to radio ("4X4XU") to preserve Lainey's radio momentum, which can be tough to get back once one of your singles bombs. "4X4XU" eventually reached No. 1, while no one even plays the song that got the big artificial boost as a recurrent.

The difference I'm seeing with this song is it continues to get airplay at the same rate after the promotional period ended. Plus the streaming numbers are very good.

The Lainey song you mention was killed by bad research. The fans didn't connect to the message of the song. It takes about a month for that research to come back. I don't expect those issues with this song, but we'll see. So far, all the numbers are positive. It's moving faster than that Lainey song. It's possible Taylor's song could go to #1 before the research comes in.
