Temps reach a boiling point at the "Brine Shrine"?

Speaker. . .this is not a stunt and they are not laughing. Well, maybe Dan is laughing because he hates them both. If this were a "stunt" you could have managment giving statements from their offices donned with station banners. Instead, they are again on lockdown, ala Arbitron scandal.

Advertisers read the paper. Retail spending first quarter 2009 for radio is already down over 25%. There comes a time when buyers might say, "who the hell we dealing with here?" One talent, tells his client friend, "don't buy mid-days". The afternoon guy says, "don't buy mornings". In the meantime the sellers out there are trying to pay their mortgage and getting slammed w/ this nonsense. Joe Lembo can't make his numbers and the front page of the papers say people are getting assaulted. Has John filed a police complaint?

This station can't afford to give up one cent of revenue. The company being in the tank is actually helping Providence right now. Nobody has time to mind the store. WTF?? A guy gets hit with a staple? We have Wall Street bankers breathing down our neck!

Speaker, I can name 3 inncedents that have made the papers about WPRO in the last 6 months.. Not 'made up'.
Can you name me one from WHJJ, WPRO fm, Coast, etc. ?

Thats the problem. Barbra Haynes is the problem !

Wow.... Barbra Haynes sure seem hated around here. So what's the scoop with this chick? Can anybody give me a brief bio on her. I would like to know a bit of her history. Where did she work before WPRO?

DePetro's the one blowing this out of proportion for 3 reasons
1) He thinks he can get away with it,
2) He hates Ron,
3) Creater drama and getting WPRO in the headlines.

Ms. Haynes (formally Barbara Cash) used to be a humble secretary at WPRO years ago. Then she got fat, then she developed poor self concept. Then she started exercisng and lost weight and kept getting promoted. She is a classic example of the Peter Principal. Then she married a military General. He recently got promoted too and the WPRO news department had to report it. Well Habby did, but he's such a company kiss a__, he may have come up with the idea himself. Her sales managment team should get hazzard pay.

Thanks Yak. So she never even worked in Radio before, but she somehow went from being a Secretary at WPRO to General Manager? WOW. I don't know what's crazier. That story (or) the one Howard Stern told this week of Sirius Radio needing a new host for one of it's channels. So they gave the front desk receptionist her own show!!!

For you kids out there looking to get into radio, don't hesitate to get your foot in the door by working out in the front lobby first. Apparently it works! Geeeez... There really is no rhyme or reason to working in radio .. is there? It's nutty.

I think she was a secretary for WSNE back in the day (maybe even Holland's??).... she was Jim Corwin's (fmr Clear Channel GM) protegee and "worked her way up"... from there...

When Andrea Scott finally retired to the looney bin/horse farm she stepped up to GM from the sales side.

"Advertisers read the paper"...

They do? You mean the Sunday ProJo, piles of which are left on Stop and Shop Shelves every Sunday beacause nobody wants to pay $3 a copy? You mean the newspaper that is thisclose to dying? Its a race right now between the ProJo and the Boston Globe as to which paper is going to take a dirt nap first..if Citadel doesn't file for bankruptcy before then...

WSAR spent three days on the front page of the Fall River Herald News about a year ago..think their salespeople, to some degree, didn't love that? It got the call letters out there if nothing else..

Ad Agencies are going to look at the numbers and cost per thousand..local clients likely aren't paying much attention, since in the end, its their relationship with the AE that matters most..

Look if the Arbitron thing didn't result in somebody getting blown out at WPRO, why do you think somebody throwing a paper wad is going to result in anything more? This will blow over in a week or so..and then something else will take its place..

I think everyone in the building should show up wearing an eye patch Monday.

Or maybe just stop fighting with each other..

Instead of eye patches, maybe gags. If they had competition from 920 maybe they wouldn't worry so much about each other and worry more about what's going on across town.

I learned about the stripper's unwritten code of ethics in the story. I'm surprised Ron hasn't blogged about the lapdancer/talk show host analogy yet since he did take a swipe at Mike Stanton.

I just heard that Buddy - Ron, had stated Mike Stanton had a 'thing' for hookers. That he paid for Sex.
I was told that was said on Thursday's show. Did anyone hear this? Is that a wise thing to say?

Also, why was Depetro not in on Friday?
