Tensions Boil Over On-Air at MSNBC (Video)

Here's my question, what exactly is Mika Brezenski's role on this show? She just sits there looking dumb, laughing, pulling strange faces and saying "awww, c'mon Joe."

Does anyone else notice that?

If MSNBC were smart (and trust me, they're not) they would get rid of Olbermann, Matthews, Scarborough and all their other talk show hosts. They'd then put real anchors on the air 24/7 to anchor news using NBC's news resources around the world. They would position themselves as the only true news channel on cable and get rid of all these talk shows and documentaries. They'd focus on real news, not soap opera stories like Caylee whatzerface. They would devote a significant amount of time to world events, something the other networks (both broadcast and cable) have largely quit doing. Become a news utility: a place that I know I can turn on and get real news at any time of the day or night.

If MSNBC did that, they wouldn't have to worry about what FNC or CNN did because they would no longer be competing with them.

Sounds like a good idea. Too good though, I'm sure it won't happen.

You think they struggled when they began? Try doing that and theyre done in 6 months.

Mind you, I would prefer "news" ....not politics version of the WWE. but it makes for entertainment, no matter how hypocritical it comes out...

See here, you guys, you know what the problem is with MSNBC, as I see it? The problem is that MSNBC is a network that would, if radio GENIUS Rick Sklar were STILL alive, be considered "format of the month" (you know, one of those networks that can't make up their minds as to what they want to do). Before they were MSNBC, they were "America's Talking" - kind of like talk show radio on helium, so....

There was nothing she could have done. She was truly helpless to stop it, as were the other two. Obviously, the network didn't seem to mind - you'd think they could have conveniently cut to a commercial or something if they did.

I totally agree with your post, especially about Chris Matthews. Nothing is more irritating than having him interrupt someone before they have a chance to complete a sentence. At least Olbermann is funny at times. I would pay good money to see him and O'Reilly step into the ring and go at each other for three rounds.
The real shame is that Tim Russert isn't here to anchor the conventions. :(

It seems as though MSNBC has lost its political rudder since Tim's passing.

MSNBC has been behind Obama's candidacy since he first announced he was running for president in 2007. Not that I am a fan of Hillary Clinton, but many (so-called) network anchors and commentators were speculating for months that Clinton would drop out of the race, when the truth is that she had no intentions of doing that. Now that their candidate has the nomination, I am just waiting to see how MSNBC covers the Republican convention and what comments they will make about John McCain. (Not that I'm a McCain fan either.) I guess the only network to watch political events is C-Span.

That's easy:

He's old. He's 72. Oh, did I tell you he's old? And picking Palin for a running mate is risky because he's old and might die. He's 72, you know.

Hope the RNC people have a buttload of Depends nearby for McCain as well as a couple of walkers. And if he does get elected president, will he have to set aside one day a week for him to yell out the White House window, "Hey! You damn kids, get the hell off my lawn or I'm calling the cops!" ?
