Terre Haute Book

Just saw the 12+ numbers, and Crossroads took a dive. Oldies WAXI was up, ranked better than their sister AC WBOW, and the Crock fell even further. Any thoughts.

Terrible book for Crossroads. If Midwest was already close to buying them, look for it to happen for sure now, and maybe at a reduced price. The Crock is now dead last, and Midwest's small signal of 959 The Valley is tied with the 50,000 Watter B-1027. Crossroads is a mess. They sell ads way to cheap, and run way too many, and have weak morning shows on all of their stations, with the exception of Ron Mott on their highest rated station, WAXI (Rimshot from Rockville). Looks like the Crock is really a crock of...well you know. I feel bad for Party Marty. To go from Top Dog to dead last has to be hard.

Both Emmis stations lost, while they didn't lose much, its been a while since both went down. Really the only winner was Midwest, with Mix and The Valley posting the biggest gains, and 98.5 stayed the same.

I'd LOVE to see some breakdowns.

The Crock's tumble is amazing, although we need to realize that there was no PD for a fair chunk of the book (and the preceeding few weeks/months).

The ratings in this market are really whacked out. Last book WIXY and WFMS had a 1 share. Neither appears this book.

Last time I visited TH, I tried to listen to WQTY - IU was on, and the signal was listenable, but far from perfect.

And yes, Crossroads does run too many ads.

WTHI-FM getting nearly 1/4 of the 12+ audience in Terre Haute????

Wow! Those are country numbers I'd expect to see down South, not in Indiana.

Good job Hi 99!

Good job Hi 99!

Take a look around Central Indiana. WFMS is always strong in Indy and HANK gets some good numbers considering. WMDH is big in Muncie-Marion. WKOA is always at or near the top in Lafayette. Country is pretty much king in the central part of the state.

Signal and stability also contribute to HI-99's success.

The Waking Crew has been on for a decade, as has Dianne House. Party Marty was on for something like 12 years, ending in November. And the only two 50,000 watters are THI and MGI, who have been the top two stations in the area for as long as I've been looking at ratings.

Heck, just look at the saturation of country signals. If my memory serves, I can get six country stations on FM from where I am.

B102.7 WBOW FM Is a 50,000 Watter. Can't forget them and their horrendus ratings. Whoever is programming that thing needs to be sent down the road.

Wasn't the WPFR-FM of the late 70s & early 80s a 50K station? The station once owned by the Oak Ridge Boys.

Is there any other market in the US where one station can have a 25 rating and that big of a gap between itself and the second place station?

Breakdown.......Mix is #1 females from age 12 through 54. Wow, can arbitron books bless you or what?
Here is what this board needs to think about, since there is a board, do you want to put your programming minds to use.....or just talk a bunch of crap on the board? Anyone want to have fun on radio again? Let me have it with this forum if you want to. I love it. You people are radio. Not the dead, number crunching people that thought that the numbers mean money! They do, but I'm on a roll....They mean rewards for the hard work that you, as a PD, and his friends, better known as his or her staff, preach every day. Many numbers are as worthless as a old burntout PD's ego, but some reflect the essence of a vision. Keep going, lose the fear, and take every opportunity you have to put up a banner. You are the last of the radio stand......quit talking....talk to win!

I'll be here all week.......

is anyone even at mix anymore? i thought Midwest took the whole station vt from other markets.

a m r

Don't look for the PD of WBOW-FM going anywhere soon. He's currently doing mornings along with the station's GM, Doug Edge. In the days of old, and most stations today their would be some accountability place on the sholders of the PD. If the Book has showed them anything, their oldies are the best they have going for them. Why leave it on a 3kw stick? Also, News/Talk seemed to score on distant stations, while the local sports format scored the same. UMM Why not switch sports to n/t??

Rich O'Brien!! Welcome to the boards! Keep up the KICK ASS job you and the Mix staff are doing. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... The Haute is lucky to have you back. Mix sounds great again!!!

You went up Rich. Keep doing what you do! You know the drill, usually takes 2 books to get where you want to go after coming in as PD. Make me proud buddy!

Mix has live weekday shows. You can tell the morning show and PM Drive are live. And recently I have been hearing the Night Show with lots of phones and games again. The only imported shift sounds like Middays. That guy sounds like he shouldn't even be on Top 40. A lot of the talent, Jamey Dawson, Julie, Tarra Summers, Kyle West, and Rich OBrein (now back) have all been on MIX since before the Midwest takeover. A lot of the weekend stuff sounds canned, I miss the Sat. nite open house party, it was a fun show to hear.

It's a shame for Crossroads their book went the way it did. You'd like to see the only local company do well, but right now they are having problems. I guess you really cant blame the PD for the spot load, and the decision to switch WSDM's frequency and the launch of The Crock. Im pretty sure none of those things were his calls, and decisions that Crossroads would like to Re-Think. I like to listen to the AM Sports from time to time, but I would agree, a local Morning and PM Drive N/T would be huge for them on the AM Side, and still run the High School Sports.

I've never tried to listen to AM 1300/1130 during the day, but I was buying gas at the 500 Express ($2.18/gal) across from their studios at about 8PM and ... I don't think I was able to tune either frequency. Is the signal really that bad?

They aren't great, but I find The Hi-99 Transmitter downtown kills both AM and FM signals that arent 50k.

The sports stations in Terre Haute are 640/1130. 640 replaced 1300 IIRC.

What makes you think that Adam Michaels is not live during middadys?
