Where I understand a lot of people are upset over the AC format going away and being replaced by a format that's being duplicated across town, I also think that some competition is needed for WTHI-FM. With nearly 30% of the total listening audience listening to Hi 99, they can stand to have a competitor. With Hi being so successful and 99.1 in Champaign showing up, it might be interesting to have a locally programmed and hosted country station that plays a healthy dose of new country but doesn't shy away from playing the classics. That could give them a leg up over Hi 99, but it's going to take a lot of hard work, money, and patience in order to pry the loyal audience away from that station. Hopefully, Midwest doesn't opt to go the cheap route. If that happens, they may as well not even try because they'll get lackluster results (ie. Win 98.5).
