TERRIBLE Kars for kids spot

The current ads that annoy me the most are those idiotic (and incessant) State Farm ads with Jerry Newman calling Jessica and crying about his latest accident and how lame his new insurace company is.

TV ad. However it is really ANNOYING! About as annoying as "1-877-KARS-4-KIDS" on the radio, just like we're talking about.

With those State Farm spots as an exception, the insurance company ads that have hit in the last year are pretty damn good in the creativity. GEICO really started something hot with the caveman bit a few years ago and carry on with the lizard. Farmers and Progressive are both excellent as well. USAA is good for the serious type side. Nationwide is ok but sort of lame..Aflac hasnt recovered yet. They shouldnt have canned the original guy that did the voice..I cant remember his name but he was the sound and image of their spots..What they have now doesnt land..Whatever, its been great watching them all throw mega bucks at the market-share battle..

Unfortunately, those Jerry Newman State Farm ads are on the radio too. Numerous spots.

Ah. You and Wonderfulwino are thinking of Gilbert Gottfried, who was actually the voice of the AFLAC duck.

"I'm over HERE! I'm over HERE!" - He on Hollywood Squares.

"AFLAC."

Don't you remember that other Hollywood Squares episode in the late 90s when Tom Bergeron was host-Gilbert Gotfried got so irritated at the contestants for getting his answers wrong-"YOU FOOL!!"

Well, "Wonderful Wino," I guess you've really had too much to drink. Every time I see or hear a Progressive commercial with that annoying Flo character, I can't change the channel fast enough.

Agree about Flo and Progressive commercials! That actress has made a bundle of money with those spots. I guess annoying sells. The one with the centaur is a bizarre way to sell car insurance.

Haven't heard it in awhile, but I always liked the Wally Park commercial jingles, but then that's because "Lollipop" by The Chordettes was always an adorable song.

I agree. I am sick of all those annoying insurance spots, ESPECIALLY the never ending Geico spots and those idiotic State Farm spots I mentioned previously. The Progressive spots with Flo are right up there too. That actress must be making a bundle.

Probably no longer running but Seattle Opera had a very surreal and weird concept with their radio ads for Orpheus and Eurydice; something about a young guy at an outdoor supply store shopping to get outfitted for his trip down to hell to save the girl. I guess they sold that one to the client under the reasoning of courting the youth audience but...I dunno. :-\
As to Karz for Kidz; you can donate your car to almost any charity of your choice and get the same deduction. I gave mine to the breast cancer society last year.

I also have had it with Kars for Kids spots. When I first heard the new "metal" spots, the initial thought was whoever is behind these sees himself as some kind of a hot musician or performer and uses the account to prove to the world he's a Springsteen-in-waiting. It's more about the performance (as mediocre as it is) than the message. And before that, he proved he can imitate Johnny Cash.

It might be for a good cause but those folks are doing themselves no favor with this amateurish spots.

Totally agreed, except I do wonder how good of a cause it is. I believe in charitable donations but I really have not a clue from the K4K spots where the money actually goes. Obviously something to do with children but that seems pretty vague to me. I hope it's at least something local.

The donation, in this case, goes to J.O.Y. Cut and pasted from their web site: " J.O.Y. is a 501(c)(3), national organization dedicated to addressing the educational, material, emotional and spiritual needs of Jewish children and their families".
