Terry King out at KVIL

The B*$tards have blown out Terry King at KVIL. So It doesn't matter how goo your numbers are. His numbers were tops in the aimed demographic women 25-54. Who's next? God forbid any of the upper jerks loose their jobs. Terry King is a class act. and CBS Sucks. Merry Christmas. :'(

That about cleans out mid-days at the CBS cluster. Pugs and Kelly, Debi Diaz, and now Terry King (and Carla Marion is the token casualty at KRLD, if that's indeed true.) The mid-day guy at Movin' is safe, since I believe he's the only voice on the station, and 75% of that station's time is voicetracked, anyway, last I heard.

But thank the good Lord that David and Kurt and Gavin will have great Christmases this year! Without a worry in the world. Makes you feel just warm and gooey all over. Wish I had some festive Santa emoticons to post here. ::)

Terry started in, when, the 1980s at KVIL? Physically, he reminds me of Cat Simon; on the air, his technique has Steve Eberhart written all over it.

Actually, All of the daytime was live at movin' until midnight. But they let the evening and middays go today as well. Plus half the staff. Nikki Nite the pD of Movin' is on the air right now at KVIL or Lite since it sure ain't KVIL at all anymore.

I was not the biggest fan of Terry King I even got into it once with him about Trans Siberian Orchestra. It turned out we were both right. He talked a little long for my tastes but he was one of the best in dallas for sure.

CBS management continues playing the "run out the clock" game with the company. They'll continue cutting costs to get their bonuses till there are no costs left to cut. Then CBS will get out of the radio business, sell off all its stations, and these upper managers will scatter with the loot.

I can't believe it. I'm shocked and saddened for my friend. :'(

I agree. TK...what a great soul! You will be fine, my friend, with whatever path you choose.

All of these changes are a shame and I believe totally unnecessary...these companies are panicking. I believe some of the folks they're cutting would (gladly?) take a small cut in pay to keep doing the job they love. My two cents.

I hadn't heard Terry in a few days on kvil but thought he might be taking an early holiday vacation. i guess his vacation will be longer than he or anyone else wanted. How sad for this market. Are there any CBS mid-jocks still standing in DFW?

I don't even work in radio anymore but I am shocked, disgusted and honestly heartbroken.

Here's what get's me. They'll let Terry go through the entire weekend on an emotional roller coaster doing the Children's Miracle Network broadcast, then on Monday morning they let him go?!? He loved that station, he was THE definition of loyal! All he ever wanted was to breath life into the day of mediocre noise that had become what was once the great KVIL. He wore his heart on his sleeve and was an inspiration and mentor to so many, I am blessed to have gotten to work beside him.

Terry, if you're reading this - as many good deeds that you have gone out of your way to do for others has built up an army of angels who are on your side (One wears a green Abercrombie Sweatshirt by the way ;) You will land safely my friend!!!

The bottom line is this, dressing up a soul-less station with heritage call letters is not enough - with today's announcement of TK's departure, the final chapter of KVIL has officially come to an end.

I've said it many times before, and I'm saying it again...

"It's a shame what's happened to KVIL."

The Ron Chapman-era KVIL has been gone for awhile. The CBS Radio cluster cut some good folks (Debi Diaz, Terry, Carla Marion) all over the past weekend, which is a GD shame as all of them are some of the friendliest folks in this business. I know for a fact Terry is going to land on his feet and will get plenty of work doing V/O and possibly radio in the market.

Knowing Terry, he would have done it anyway even if he knew what was going to happen on Monday. He's just that kinda guy.

Ben, that is an excellent point and I couldn't agree with you more! :)

The enthusiasm in his voice was old KVIL.

any idea what Terry will do next? Will he stay in Dallas?

I have a feeling he could move over to memories 96.7, might also pick up some voiceover work locally/regionally

platinum, memories, its all old people music.......

While I sometimes thought his "act" was a little over the top and too hokey or corny, you could tell he really enjoyed his job and was always in a good mood.

I am not in the radio business at all, just a listener, but ever since CBS pulled the plug on The Oasis, I certainly haven't been a fan of any of their stations. I quit listening to KVIL as soon as the non-stop Christmas music started. Even changed my button for that station on my radio to something else, until after the Christmas season.

I hope CBS goes down the tubes and all the suits go with them.

How horrible to lay someone off, especially right during the holiday season. Shame on them!!

Kharma is a REAL Bit**, they (the suits) will eventually get their due. It always happens. Then we'll see how they feel about losing their jobs.
