Tesla removes radios from new entry-level EVs

I have a "moto g play" 2021 version, and it lacks the FM radio app. I suspect that the growing use of wireless earbuds and Bluetooth are responsible, since I also remember the earphone cable being the antenna.
I have the 2024 version which also includes an FM radio. Supposedly it will work without earphones plugged in - it still has the earphone jack as well - but I haven't tried it yet.

I'll be curious to hear the results when you try using the FM tuner without anything plugged into the earphone jack. My guess is that reception might be really poor, because it just isn't possible to have an adequate antenna for FM broadcast reception inside a phone.

I still have my BrailleNote, which is a note taker designed for the blind. It has an FM radio in it, and though its reception wasn't great even with headphones in, reception of all but the strongest signals was impossible without headphones. I also had an iPod, and that radio wouldn't even work without headphones. The thing would just say no radio signal, please plug in headphones.
