Well Thad, after hearing about some of your exploits, hype is the last thing you need! Your rep precedes you! After all that "shock value", where have you gotten with it? Challenging a non factor station in this market, to put you on? If this is the pinnacle of your being, enjoy it, and let me know when the next recall effort is. Who knows, maybe with some hard work, you can land a gig on a Flinn station, Maybe... Keep reaching for the stars!
 
I haven't ever heard TM on the air, but grammar aside, he says a lot of things on his blog that aren't too popular, but need to be said.
 
Griffinmills,you you very petty with your opinions. my rep precedes me? at least someone knows who I am. Its easy to throw rocks when no one knows who you are. I don't need radio to have sucess, I own a very profitable repo firm. But I must admit I do love radio and maybe some of the things I say are unpopular with those who are at ease with the way things are in this city. I say the things that I know need to be said to correct the problems of this city. And you can say what you feel and know is right,when your life does not depend on a check from a station. You want to be critical of me,but what have you done?
 
To be fair, I actually like a lot of what you say on the blog you have. I especially like the way you called out Lasimba Gray. My beef, is with some stuff I have heard about your time in radio. Since it's mostly hearsay, I'll leave it right where it is. The Thaddeus I heard about, and the Thaddeus of today, seem to be very different, in terms of credibility.

I think you do say things that need to be said, as Radiosaur put it. That said, if any part of what I have heard about your on air antics is true, it lacks the credibility. It's very much the same as being lectured about indecency by Mancow, or Stern. What they say might be correct, but coming from a really large kettle!

As far as what I have done, it's really none of your business, you brought yourself to this board, you got a response. Sorry, it wasn't a love fest. I don't have to bring my credits to the table, I am not trying to run for office, or recall anybody, or apply for a job. I have NOTHING to prove. I just took your advice, as found on ThaddeusMatthews.com, and "Expressed Myself".

This board is not my blog, or yours. You might read something, not to your liking. That's what happens when you crash the party, Thaddeus. You dare to ask the folks about your "OFFER" to be on a liberal talker, on this board, and your blog, and yet, you call me petty for taking you up on it? See what I mean about the pot and the kettle?
 
If you know anything about me at all you know that what i say on my blog is backed up by facts and documentation.. I didn't know this site existed until someone posted on my site about comments being made about me.

Don't be critical of what I've done,have you ever had a talk show? as for WWTQ My offer was about doing a no fluff, hard hitting show that deals with local issues because looking at their ratings anything would be better than the present format. Yes I lead the recall,yes I did more than just talk.

As for what you have done not being my business you may be right, but I have no problem exposing myself when I think that something needs to be done. You mentioned that "you heard" before you judge know what you're talking about.
 
First off, sorry for the delayed response. I have just returned from a vacation. Those of us who keep jobs, get those from time to time. ;D

If by "no fluff", you really meant locking yourself into a studio, or maybe by "hard hitting", you really meant having phone sex on the air with a listener... There, I fixed that for you. Crap like that doesn't make you a good broadcaster. It makes a carnival barker. Being irresponsible, and stupid with your airtime, wasn't even balanced with good numbers.

Thaddeus, you are where you are in radio, because of who you are. Stick to your blog, and stop lecturing me about getting my facts straight. You certainly won't be receiving any Murrow Award anytime soon. As for me, maybe I should do talk radio, taking a "pro" like you to task, is certainly no real challenge.
 
Please!!!!!......let's put a stop to this thread rigth now! Not that I'm trying to limet free speech, but all this is doing is ligitimizing Thaddeus Matthews.. I, for one, will have no part in it. I will neither post on this thread or even read this thread anymore and I suggest everyone else to the same thing. Enough is enough
 
If I had any part of legitimizing Thaddeus, I apologize. I just wanted him to go away. He's not relevant, not in broadcasting anyway. See, the way Thaddeus gets legitimized, is by letting him believe his own hype. That's how he continues, is when it's unchecked! You might be content, with not poking a stick at guys like him, Littlebigradio, that's yours to, not do. But take your own advice, and simply stop reading it, if you don't like it.

It's when you don't say something, when it is truly legitimized. Very few people have told Thaddeus, to just STFU, and it shows with him. In the world of politics, he's made a name that's somewhat credible. In radio, not so much. Forgive me if I have legitimized him, in any way. That's was entirely, not the point. But you won't be reading this, so it's over for you, as it is. My apologies none the less. I have already said my peace. Advance sorrow for whatever response he will no doubt write, as well. Sorry I brought that out again.

Maybe we can all get back to Jackson radio discussions real soon. That's always an exciting, thought provoking discussion.
 
It was a hell of a lot more interesting than the drivel here recently.
You may not have noticed how quiet the board got when "Moderator" moved it (the jackson "Jack" stuff), but most did.
No one gives a rat @$$ about Thaddeus Matthews or the liberal crap he dispenses.
(Or virtually ANY of the AM's)
In fact, there is not much exciting happening in Memphis radio.
It seems that rather than to shake things up, every group is going to hang with the status quo and let a fine market trail off to the hell of mediocrity.
Bad, tired, jocks are making huge dollars and crappy ratings, yet nothing changes.
One mediocre country station dominates ratings and no one has the 'nads to put on a good country station to compete. (Hell, agency dollars alone could float a good deal of the initial burden)
Instead, they keep trying less than mediocre variations of "Soul" and "Jazz" and "Smooth" crap to pander to an audience that has more stations to choose from than anybody else.
Or, they try to attract a few white kids by putting on BS "HOT HITS" stations, (that are usually just another urban station in disguise)
When they do, they get a some preppy sluts and their horny little boyfriends-an audience that is VERY fickle.
Besides...it seems the majority of the (just barely over 12 demo (16-21) are listening to rap, hip-hop, or country anyway.
Before, during, and after my time in that market...Memphis has always deserved better radio than it's received!
It's been since the "Days of Dees" when this market really had the quality of radio it deserved.
There are a lot of smaller markets that have much better stations.
Wow! That feels better!
Um...nevermind!
