Thanks for a 1963 Countdown WCBS

There are much better sources for 50s and 60s music and personality than the current incarnation of CBS-FM. All the CBS o and o classic hits/former oldies stations are being run very inexpensively and they sound like it. Most of these stations, CBS-FM included, have only three full time disc jockeys and they don't make really great bucks in comparison to current living costs or in comparison to the value of the dollar and what the WABC jocks used to make. Also, none of these jocks are of the star caliber of jocks of the past. CBS-FM may satisfy you groupies but, for someone who has been in the business, all of these CBS o and o classic hits stations are but a shell of what a real personality radio station could be or once was.
I guess you groupies like it because it is better than nothing or maybe you are too young or ignorant to know the difference. GROUPIES.....GOTTA LOVE YOUR CLUELESSNESS

In today's radio as compared to the early days (70's, 80's), playlists are tight, repetition is frequent, choices are limited. We welcome a station like CBS-FM because it goes above and beyond what other classic hit stations offer: a bigger playlist, better specialties (like A to Z) and other features like the Top 20's on Sunday nights. Lots of other stations do not do this at all, they stick with the basic 400 songs, over and over and nothing else (BORING).

And yes , CBS-FM is "better than nothing" especially is today's radio environment. Sure, it's not 1960's or 1970's radio, but it's a mere resemblance of the good ole days, what WCBS is presenting now.

If you want a taste of what radio once was, then try WLNG. (great music source too!)

RADIO TRUTH..The real "Truth" is that you better enjoy what you've got now, because years and years down the road, things may be different in ways you would have never imagined on radio..by then, you'll be "clueless" on what to complain about. ::)

As I stated earlier, there is a much better current source for 50s and 60s music with 3000 1955-1971 songs and personality and it is not going anywhere and will be around for a long, long time. CBS-FM and all the other CBS o and o classic hits stations are just a cheaply run, feeble attempt to hang on. WLNG does not even fit into the equation because they are even more feeble in their own way. They are just a small market radio station with a small market sound. You can have all the 60s elements you want but, you also need talent to make it work. Where CBS-FM's djs are just average and nondescript, WLNG sounds like they have homeless people on-the-air.

While some criticisms of WLNG might be warranted, the statement about the airstaff is just so absurd that it's funny. Some of that airstaff has been there for three decades and counting, and if you believe that people like Sappiane or Potz sound like, as you say, "Homeless People", then you sir need to blow the crap out of your ears and do some closer listening.

It's a statement like that which takes ANY validity away from whatever point you are trying to make.
