Thanks for a Larry Johnson-free Memorial Day. Any way you can do the same on the Big Show? He was on Friday and I swear he set a new record for stupid remarks and jokes that weren't funny. He hadn't been on for a couple weeks, so I guess he saved them all up. The continuous stream of stupidity, punctuated by his horrible howling laugh, made the show unlistenable. He's enough to make me long for the days of Fred Smerlas.

I love my God ( Larry Johnson )! I will like to see Mr Johnson go fulltime on WEEI .

Am I the only person what has given up on WEEI? I know I hate it so much I went out and got Sirius for the work truck, to go with XM for my personal car. I went from listening to WEEI from 7-5 every day, to maybe listening to Dale and Holley for an hour or so a week. I can't even stomach the drive time shows the day after something big goes on. The only person worth listening to after 2PM is Lou Merloni.

I guess I thanked Jason a little too soon. Lame Larry Lardass ruined another Big Show yesterday. I used to think it was a racial thing, but now I'm convinced that it's Ordway's arrogance that keeps LJ on the Big Show. It's his way of saying, I'm #1 no matter what I do and I don't care what anyone thinks.

You are not the only one; not by a long shot. I gave up on the morning show altogether after the boys came crawling back from their little contract dispute. And I gave up on the afternoon show once the Patriots lost. After watching that dreadful Super Bowl, I didn't need a re-hash by those blowhards on all the reasons why and who we should 'blame.' An over-arching goal of mine was to stop listening to AM radio totally. Being in New Hampshire means I had limited choices. I didn't want to subsidize Entercom, and WBZ has gone way too 'commercial-happy' for my liking. So, Apple's iPod wins the day now. A very robust repertoire of daily Podcasts keeps AM radio on permanent 'delete.'

I haven't completely given up on them. At one time I listened to them 12 hours a day. I stopped listening to the three a**holes in the morning some time ago. I generally like the Big Show unless it's ruined by someone like Smerlas, LJ, Sterns, or Burton. Actually Burton and Sterns are just annoying, the other two ruin any show that they're on. On weekends I stopped listening to Mustard and Custard years ago. I listen to Mike Mutnansky sometimes. The Baseball Show is the best thing on weekends, but it was better before they started alternating hosts for cost savings. Dale and Holley is probably the most consistantly good show as long as Dale is in charge. When he's out, Holley decides to become a combination of Bob Barker and Wolfman Jack.

So, to make a long story longer, I haven't completely given up, but I'm getting there.

Art, I agree with much of your last post. The morning show, I will have on up until the first flash. That is typically while I am getting ready for work. Once I am in the car, if I want sports talk, I put on Sirius.

I do enjoy Dale and Holley thoroughly. Although I hardly have a chance to listen to them outside of my lunch break. They are the most informed hosts on the air and have more basic sports knowledge in one segment than the other three week day shows combined. I can't tell you how many times other shows have had to "look up" basic facts like who is pitching in two days or what time Saturday's game is, etc. Instead, Dale and Holley just know the answers.

The Big Show is listenable as long as LJ isn't on. Butch whines but I can handle him as long as the other hosts aren't horrible.

Planet Mikey is, ummmm, different. I love his random facts but it is hard to build a show around that.

On the weekends, Mike Munanski (sp) is great. The rest can go for a long walk on a short pier. The baseball show with McAdam is outstanding. He knows the game and can articulate it better than other hosts. Buckley and Adams are tough to listen to. Their analogies to the 1950's and earlier are awkward at times. I love learning about the history of the game but they seem to try to outdo each other with their name dropping from the past. It gets tedious.

The football show on Sunday mornings may be my favorite show. I'd love to get Holley on there with his inside connections to the Pats.
