Thanks KLIF!

Effective today, The Wells Report is no longer a part of the Legendary KLIF. The station is going in a different direction, and I wish them nothing but success.

There are people I simply have to thank....First are Dan Bennett, Jeff Catlin, and Steve Nichol. I owe these men a lot. Three and a half years ago, Dan and Jeff gave the chance of my career; Afternoon Drive at one of the great stations in Radio. I sincerely appreciate what they've done for me, and will never forget it.

I'd like to thank my sponsors: Tony Cooper of All-Pro Foundation Repair, Jim Pisoni of DFW Gun Range, David Pidgeon of Starpower, Larry Chase of Freeman Mazda, Marty Drake of American Enerpower, and also, the coolest thing is when your weekend colleagues sponsor your show....John Atcheley of Credit Talk USA, and Steve Davis of The Real Estate Investor Radio Show. These are the best sponsors anyone could ever have, and I am fortunate to have had these people, and their great companies behind The Wells Report.

Also, the people of The Wells Report: Executive Producer; Scott Jones, the best collaborator I have ever worked with. Technical Directors (and Conductors of The Wells Report Orchestra); The Cowboy, Alan Garrett Young, and The Philip Brown. Ministers of News and Reality: Terese Arena, Val Dior, and Matt Stoker. All of these people came together for the hard, and serious, and fun work of the Broadcast. God Bless them, and their futures.

Oh, and special thanks to Ron DeRoxtra. (Last time I posted something about the great pros I've worked with here, I forgot to mention him.....He cried.)

Finally, I'd like thank the Major Market Pros of Dallas/Ft. Worth. (Mark Davis just sent me an amazingly nice note....How cool is that?!? I didn't even know he had my email address!) Thanks to all of you for making The Wells Family so welcome here.

(By the way, of anyone knows about a station in need of a great News/Talk station that needs a pro....Tell 'em about Ron, huh?)

I just realized how depressed loosing you on the radio has made me. Find a new home quickly so we can keep listening to you. I just mentioned to another listener that I missed Darrell and Greg when they left KLIF but you and Jeff are definitely much better. KLIF messed up bad.

Hey there...welcome to the beach, my friend, although, I don't suppose you'll be here very long before opportunity knocks. I wish you the best!

Rats. javascript:void(0); Sorry to hear that J-D. You're a pro and I enjoyed working with you at KLIF. Best of luck.

A little off topic, but having just come back from visiting New Orleans over the weekend and seeing the name triggered the thought... same Jon-David Wells that used to be on WQUE-FM in the '80s?

We frequently visited New Orleans when my grandparents were alive and living there (a few blocks from the race track). Of course, they mostly had the radio on WSMB for talk shows (which if I remember at the time as all local all day...think they had the old NBC Talknet with Bruce Williams and Sally Jessy Raphael in the evenings).

I do remember getting some time periodically with WQUE ("In New Orleans, hit radio is 93 WQUE-FM"), WEZB, and WRNO.

Good luck on your next gig!

JD,

I have listened to the Mighty Eleven Ninety since 1962. I am a native Dallas site who abandoned Dallas for NE Tarrant County. In January 1986 KLIF became a Talk Station. I was there when Norm cracked open his MIC. I ahve been with KLIF through thick and thin. I have been a loyal listener ever since. I wake up with the morning host and I go to bed with Coast to Coast.

I have had a few favorites, David Gold, Kevin McCarthy, Norm, Darrell Ankarlo, Jeff Bolton and of course Ed
Wallace.

But for my drive home since the early nineties I have never enjoyed more, your entertainment, introspective view point, challenging semi sarcastic interviews of the political elite and your great insightful humor as enjoyed when I listen you.

I regularly jump out of my vehicle and rush into tune in in my home so I did not miss some poignant interview, opinion, an ass kicking you were giving a political idiot or a major issue that affected my life.

Even though you and I never met I consider you and the cast of callers especially Glen as my extended friends.

I love Friday's when you unleashed Shotgun those were the best light hearted moments of comradery.

I value when you went toe to toe with the people that make my quality of life diminished due to their myopic viewpoints and selfish motives.

I appreciate you introducing me to Debra Medina.

Please let this board know where you land.

Please make sure your new home streams as I will be your first listener.

Sincerely, thank you for being the force you are and thank you for your part in shaping the DFW scene. Thank you for your contribution to the service of our country if the need be you be called up.

Thank in you genuineness.

God Bless you and your family.

The Fan has just picked up a new listener in the afternoons. In protest of course.

Long ago in a different life, KLIF informed me that they "were going in a different direction". It didn't feel like it at the time but it was the best thing that every happened to me. I don't know you, John, but I congratulate you on your classy good-bye post and hope the best days of your career are ahead of you.

Um, Bill Jackson?

Wow, what weird timing to let a moderate/conservative talk show go. This is the most ripe news/commentary week there's been since the presidential election. What, did you speak out FOR the health care bill? And, of course, the obvious question in my mind (and no doubt in others) is how you're out of a job, but the morning show lives on? Someone explain that one to me.

Sarcasm aside, I'm sorry about your plight, and hope that something comes up again for you soon. The beach is crowded, but we'll make room for ya. I admit that I'm not a listener (which is no reflection on you; after manning the traffic post for 6 years at WBAP, I could go the rest of my life without EVER hearing another talker) but I know Bill Jackson thought very highly of you, and he's a "tough cookie" to impress! I know others who were dedicated fans as well. You will be missed.

So who does anyone think Nicholl has in mind for afternoons? A David Gold redux? Kevin McCarthy? Dick Hunter? Dan Lewis?

The first two thoughts that crossed my mind as well. That morning show is intolerable. Very disappointed with KLIF the last couple of years, but I made an appointment with JD every afternoon.

Agree. They shoulda fired Bolton and moved The Wells Report to mornings. Bolton is awful. How about a term limit for his show?

Jon David, I don't listen to KLIF much anymore, but I always enjoyed your show. I wish you all the best ! Take care.
