The Ax Falls on the Jagger Show

According to Jagger's Facebook page, Mondo & Dean were fired after Friday's show. Jasmine will remain and Barsky will be joining the show starting Monday. Will the revolving door there ever stop? In my opinion this is ANOTHER bad move from Bigby..

I'm sorry, it isn't just Bigby. I blame radio management as a whole for the death of radio as we know it. They tried to fix something that wasn't broke to begin with, and just screwed it up beyond all repair (and that was back in December of 2008) Now, this....in the latest of blunders by the folks calling the shots over there. My God, I honestly think (and this is my opinion) that the people at the controlls at CBS Radio are pushing down on that wheel and putting that radio station in a power dive with absolutely no intention of pulling back on the stick (and they wonder why things are tanking). I tip my hat to the brass at CBS for finding a way to get paid after making a series of horrible choices in how to run their radio business. It's a small wonder that KJKK and KVIL are doing well, but then again, those are the only two stations over there that they haven't screwed with (YET) in the past 15 months. Well, I take that back, they did get Spittle out of KRLD AM, and that station is actually doing a bit better.

At least CBS TV is doing ok.

Mondo and Dean are not big losses.

Neither would Jasmine.

Jagger is the only one with any radio talent of that whole group.

Thoughts go out to all the Jagger Mafia family in this difficult time. You will never be forgotten :'(

They will be forgotten by this time tomorrow. Will this mean we won't be able to enjoy four people constantly talking over each other? Who will give out the "fan text" number every ten seconds and be ill informed about news and current events? Tiny baby shows to fill.

Yes, management is a joke, but please don't make it seem like this is a great loss. The station is horrific now, it will continue to be horrific after the changes.

Yes, but The Fan and d-bag Bigby ruined The Jagger Show. The Jagger Show (like the RMS) used to be greatness. The Fan made it a shell of its former self. I will not listen to Barskey and Jagger because I can't stand Barskey and I can't stand what a tool Jagger has become. He should have stood by his friends and coworkers of many years instead of bowing to CBS. CBS Dallas is the bottom of the barrel and I hope anyone that still has that station preset will change it. I can't believe what has happened to DFW radio and radio in general. It makes me sick that radio now caters to adverts and PPM and not listeners. PPM is way off!!! Look at what we have lost... Merge 93.3, KDL (dance), The Oasis (smooth jazz), the real Edge, MIX... it is just crap mailed in via VT (miss you LT). The only thing left that I listen to on AM or FM is Jody Dean & the Morning Team and The Hardline (Ticket). Other than that it is XM & iPod. HD is a joke and will go the way of AM stereo very soon. Wow! That felt good! ;D

I posted something like this right after 105.3 went sportstalk a year ago. I think the idiots running CBS think they are approaching year 3 choreographing some 5 year plan. It's been so obvious what their plans have been all along from the moment they added "Live Talk and Live Sports" back in like May of 2008...so now they'll add barsky in the morning with Jagger...then some other d-bag will join the show then around December of this year...or maybe even August before Cowboys kickoff they will casually kick Jagger out the door as if it some seamless transition.

I would say this though, unlike ESPN who's parent company would rather not pay for local talent and are not interested in any ratings battles, if the Fan stays around long enough to purchase 1 or 2 of the Ticket's key shows it could change things in a hurry. I think if two years from now BAD radio is in afternoon drive on 105.3, the fan will probably be a lot closer in the 25-54's...but I don't think over spending on other station's talent will necessarily translate to revenue.

I wonder how much the Ben and Skin fiasco made the full time ticket hosts leary of leaving the mothership. They watched B&S walk across the street and be back out ON the street 6 months later. I'd bet that the 4 main shows over there know that if they leave and don't produce, they could be out on the street a year down the line. Sure they'd probably get a multi-year contract, but do you risk leaving a cushy gig that you can probably ride for years to come, for a short-term payday that could blow up in your face. And especially as those guys get older, I would think they'd be less likely to jump ship. IIRC, Norm's in his mid 60's, Rhyner's nearly 60 if he's not past it, and all the rest (D&M and B&D) have to be 40ish or over.

HAHA...Karma's a B*ITCH isn't it Jagger?? Or should I say Frank? It's taking a while but Karma always comes around when you need her to! 1st Jimmy was out, next it was those two talentless fools Mondo & Dean next it will be those two little girls Jantzen & Jasmine then YOU homeboy!! Gotta love it ;)

The big key to the Ticket's success is its stability. The Ticket hasn't had a main lineup change since Norm moved over from KLIF, and that was around the millennium. (I'm not counting Greggo's firing, since the Hardline remains.) Their shows were given a chance to develop an audience, and they've done so.

I don't blame Ben & Skin, K-Scott, etc. for jumping ship — there wasn't any room for them at the Ticket other than weekend/fill-in shows and won't be for the foreseeable future. I'll just say they deserved a fighting chance after they crossed the fence.

Little1 it would be crazy for any of the mainstay shows to bail but..I think if the Fan wanted to target somebody, maybe Randy Galloway might make the most sense..No idea about his contract situation but if they pulled it off, who knows maybe six months or a year later, if the station somehow survives, they could talk Norm into a return to mornings for 105.3. I think what they are doing now hiring a bunch of guys from Philadelphia, Chicago, and Portland seems like certain failure. How long is it going to take Arnie Spanier to learn how to pronounce Burleson, Ennis, Decatur, or Rowlett? I can't imagine what it will sound like if he takes a call from Watauga.

I think Thom Bailey had a better plan.

How would hiring Galloway and Norm improve their M 25-54 numbers though? It would give the station some much-needed credibility, which it certainly doesn't have now, but not sure how it would help in the ratings.

Is there a chance that CBS is wanting Jagger to bow out on his own, and this is an attempt to push him over the edge? Buyouts are expensive...just ask Russ. If CBS came to Jagger with a weak package and pressured him to walk, it'd sure be cheaper than paying him out for the entire rest of his contract PLUS paying off the others with the show. (That package would also inevitably have a "play nice" clause..."It was my own decision"/"CBS and Bigby have been wonderful"/"I hope the station succeeds"/"Best of luck to everyone," ad nauseum.) You also get bad press with a firing, something that 105.3 sure doesn't need any more of.

Also, I'm sure that Jerry Jones would LOVE to see a pro-Cowboys sports talk morning show on the station instead. He might even pay a couple of lackeys to host it, out of his own pocket.

So they fire the two funniest guys on the show & yet the least talented person keeps her job that makes sense.

On that last part...unlikely, VERY unlikely! Money only goes IN to Jerry's pocket, never out.

I think Rhyner is 58ish, D&M are both like 42ish, Dan is 40, and Bob is like 38 I think.

I could see Bob and Dan taking a chance on moving to a drive time slot if the right deal came along. However, given the history of Both ESPN and the Fan, I would have to assume the deal would have to be a monster.

No reason for D&M and Hardline to leave. Norm would not be able to draw an audience for morning drive. He would probably do as good as they do now or the same or a little bit better than they could do with someone else, but Norm has a cushy big with a paycheck to match. Plus he gets audience from the station that listen to him just because he has turned into a punchline as he has gotten older. Norm is not in a position to bring in big morning radio numbers in the marketplace today, essentially being the flagship of station. He might like the idea that he was somewhere that was as sportscentric as him.. Maybe. Reality is though Norm likes to do too many other things that he probably does not want to give up at his age to go into a fuller and less flexible schedule.

BaD Radio has no competition in the 12-3 daypart and so they dominate there. You're right, the only way they leave is if someone money-whips them.

Rhyner's dead. :) Actually he turns 60 this year.

I heard a little of the show this morning and thought that it was just Barsky sitting in. This is just going to be a far less funny show without Jagger cracking on those two.
