I listened out of curiosity yesterday and Jaggers show as well as Gavin and Greg were just as lousy as always. I can't believe they kept Jasmine!!! WTF?? She's gotten so awful!! Gotta agree, there are no non sports or non right wing nutjob talks shows to listen to anymore. I do listen to Pugs on 1190, but after that I actually listen to NPR. What does that tell ya about the DFW radio situation?

There are several still employeed in the Dallas radio brain trust, by absentee corporate landlords, whose focus is more on destroying their competitor than building their product. One of these managers got involved with 105.3, and this is your result. This was not a well thought out plan to build a great radio station in the wake of Howard Sterns exit, it is instead the business equivalent of a childish tantrum, by a manager jealous of the TICKETs success. That persons issues were dragging down 105.3 long before the problems hit the air - problems started as major issues in the hallways and sales pit, as bad actors were allowed to run wild by this incompetant manager. In the weeks before the referrenced "Talk & Sports" branding began in 08, two of the stations most productive sales reps walked. Reps making huge money who accounted for a combined $300,000 per month of the stations revenue.
The idea that Dunham & Miller, the Great Gordo, and Mike Rhyner would not have walked to 105.3 for the right deal is CRAZY - Susq/Cumulus has totally screwed them with a terrible signal and a rufusal to invest in their product. If those shows were on a 100,000w signal and housed in a company that invested in online and station marketing TICKET would dominate by a rediculous margin. The TICKET should be to Dallas what Howard Stern was to NY. Instead their managers treat them like second class citizens, even when producing $30M in sales, while the their company continued broadcasting dead-air on 50,000w FM 93.3. They would have walked, but not now, not to CBS. Not after seeing how poorly the quality of the decision making is at 105.3.

I wonder who else would agree, that the most detailed and involved discussions on this board resulted from the talent at that station back in the hay day of the hot talk format? It hasn't been the same on this board since. And to this day, the most entertaining discussions HERE still result from talking about the glory days of LIVE 105.3. Face it, even if you liked or hated the people there, it sure has resulted in some good talk here both in the past, and now.
If that isn't proof that radio is dead in Dallas, then I don't know what else would be. We are still longing for a hot talk format in Dallas. Now if anyone calling the shots at any of the stations is reading what I have to say, maybe YOU can put two and two together and give back to Dallas what everyone is screaming for. Does anyone else agree that radio is being run by idiots? My God, it's as obvious as the nose on your face.

If that's the case, they should of just gone the extra mile and gotten rid of Jasmine and replaced her with Sybil. Yeah, Sybil is a few years older than Jasmine, but she's still pretty hot and she still has a few good years left in her. She still has that pleasantly spunky voice and cute laugh that made her famous on P&K, unlike Jasmine's annoying self. That would of been the best thing to do instead of watching Sybil throw herself (and her career) away on that late night drive show she's on doing traffic. I'm assuming her Nascar and modeling gig failed. Sucks if it did.
Regardless of what everybody thinks about Mondo and Dean, they were part of what made the Jagger show work. It's just not the same without them, even though the show hasn't been the same since the station switched formats
Define 'work'. If you're job is to draw ratings in your targeted demo, and your station is rated 20-25th IN YOUR TARGET DEMO, you're not doing your job, i.e. your show doesn't 'work'.DallasRadio said:
And let me spell it out for you guys. That show, that station, is someplace between 20 and 25th in Men 25-54, the target market for sports radio. So while they're obviously getting beat by the Ticket, all the rock stations, the country stations, and the hispanic stations in town, they have less men 25-54 listening to them than KISS or i93. That's right there are more men 25-54 listening to teeny-bopper CHR than that failure of a station.
That show didn't "work". It hasn't worked in the year and a half since they flipped. No listeners equals no 'work', equals somebody's got to get fired.

I mean come on, Jerry Jones demanded to keep all inventory from the Cowboys broadcasts, which by the way is really the only time that station gets good numbers. So Russ fell from number 1 to averaging 6-8th IIRC....sorry, your argument that not enough people were listning just doesn't hold alot of weight.

How long does it take for a station to make headway in the ratings after the format is switched? I like the fan or at least I should say I don't hate it as much as most seem to here. I wonder why it is hated so much?

Ok, I semi-understand being mad about shows changing, but why the continual attacks. There are a lot of things I don't like but I don't send endless hours here complaining. There has to be more to it.

I'm sure the clock is ticking for Jagger. I did hear some of the FAN this morning and poor Jagger. I'm not saying gay guys are sissies, believe me, I've known several that are much more masculine than me. However, gay guys have the luxury of being manly, yet able to enjoy things that (most straight) manly men wouldn't admit to. But not Jagger!! I guess because he's on a sports station he must forever be a super manly man, and totally downplay his gayness. He loves guns, dislikes facials, doesn't listen to Lady Gaga, knows nothing about fashion, doesn't like seeing men in banana hammocks, finds women hot(I'm not saying gay men don't know when a woman is hot, but he totally overplays it, like he'll do her or something), he doesn't seem (or isn't allowed) to find anything attractive about men period. And that's just from listening today.
I work and am (semi) friends with a gay guy that's a crazy sports fan...to the point of annoyance actually. He's a little more bearable now that the cowboys season is over. Anyway, he's no sissy, and crazy about sports, yet he's still able to be his gay self. I just don't feel Jagger is able to totally be himself on the fan..and that's a little sad, imo. I think he'll be put out of his misery soon enough though. I can't be the only one that has noticed this.

Think about it they've completely butchered his show since the flip & now they've booted two of his sidekicks & paired him w/ another former morning dj. It's obvious that they are slowly pushing Jagger out the door by either forcing him to quit or letting him go completely. The truth is he never fit on the Fan to begin with and this is just their way of telling him his time is up.
