The backlash against ABC has begun

I have never seen a soap.

Probably limits the meaningful contributions one can make about the content of soap operas, then.

I've had no reason to watch anything on ABC since Monday Night Football left. The only reason I watched any of the NBA Finals this year was because of the Dallas Mavericks. There isn't even an ABC Sports division anymore! Walt Disney has completely ruined this network! Frankly, I'm glad I don't receive ESPN. I wouldn't want to watch a station I didn't care for anyways.

Yeah, Disney ruined it. I suppose one can convince themselves of anything in an effort to make them feel better....even that which isn't based in reality.

And don't forget that GE ruined NBC.

It just took 85 years of ownership.

Also worth noting a bunch of whiny teenage girls are spamming the ABC Family Facebook page demanding they put back on some dopey show called "The Nine Lives of Chloe King".
I don't know if "worth noting" means what you think it means.

I take it this was not about a real cat?

I agree .The Mickey Mouse Club people ruined ABC.Part of the blame is the FCC deregulation in the past 20 years. They let these big mergers happen.Kill the small broadcasters of all kinds of broadcasting.Ok back on topic. Will ok this will make room for more talk shows. The Chew .I wonder if the ratings dipped.

I think GE only had controlling interest in NBC for about 29 years (1926-30 via RCA, and 1986-2011 - not including the 49% stake they still have). GE had to give up its interest in RCA in 1930, and bought it out in 1986.

ABC made a smart choice to make the chew, they cant run a drama. And most of all 50% cheaper to make than amc!

WHAT!?!?! You'd ruin my memories of two years of junior high school coming home every weekday to ogle watch Annette develop dance, not to mention Spin & Marty?

Wait......Disney didn't own ABC in the 50's......

So, just what is the conspiracy here?

If The Chew flops, ABC will either find a new show to replace it, or give that timeslot back to the affiliates to program. I believe their mind is made up, that they won't bring back All My Children. I just wonder what will replace One Life To Live, as that's scheduled to end in January.

Oop I'm sorry.

"One Life to Live" is going to be replaced by "The Revolution", a health and lifestyle program.

I'd rather see talk shows like this from the networks, even f I don't care about seeing them, instead of turning the time back over to local stations and see it be filled with more trash talk like Jerry Springer, courtroom shows, or worst of all, infomercials.  :p

I don't know about other markets, but I don't see WLS-TV in Chicago trying to get Jerry Springer, Steve Wilkos, or Maury Povich. WGN-TV already has the affiliation for Maury, while Weigel Broadcasting managed to snatch the Jerry Springer affiliation from Fox Chicago (aired on WPWR-TV and for several years on WFLD) to air on WCIU 26.1 in the morning, while reairing the ahow again on WCIU 26.2 in the evening. WCIU also carries Steve Wilkos. To my knowledge, Chicago is the only dual affiliation market for Dr. Phil, with his show on WCIU 26.1 at 9am, then again on WBBM-TV at 3pm. So Dr Phil won't change stations for a while either. If the timeslots were given back to the affiliates, it's hard to say what they could fill those 2 hours, but it won't be any of those shows. If they have to, they could just simulcast Livewell Network, or put some Livewell Network programming on in those timeslots (WLS-TV already does it with Motion & at least 1 other show on weekends to fill timeslots). WLS-TV never had any talk shows on in the early afternoon (at least not to my knowledge before 3pm), since they were one of the few markets that had Oprah on at 9am, & that was due to her hosting AM Chicago (a local talk show from the 70's - mid 80's) for 2 years prior to going nationwide, & the station decided to keep Oprah on at 9am.

What do you watch??? ??? Most of your comments are that you don't watch whatever the topic of discussion is. ::)
Mostly the news and Around the Horn in ESPN. I consider just about everything else as beneath me.
