Don't get me started on this. Entire articles have been written about the tyranny of the HOF induction committee, led by you-know-who, the former San Francisco resident and magazine publisher.
One glaring omission is Neil Diamond, who should be in for his writing alone, as well as his own hits. But I agree with the Doobie Brothers, for their pioneering work as a cross-over band, having hits on pop and rock stations, and their ability to reinvent themselves with new people, like Michael McDonald. Chicago is in that same category. But a lot of that pop side is what turns off the committee. Hey, how about Tower of Power?
