The Bloodletting has started in Dothan.....watch your back

I'm new at this web site. Would someone please tell me why Brett Mason was ousted? I love this man. He is such a trip. I can't imagine why he would be let go.

Last time I traveled through, the Big Dog was sounding great. Sorry they're neutering that pup.

My 2 cents worth. KMX stays CHR. 969 takes over as THE country station. No need competing with yourself. WTVY gets a makeover, new calls, new AC format. The AC is Vtracked as much as possible=little cost. David, Wendy, and Melody would transition to AC (again) nicely. News-Talk moves over to what was ‘Kicking’. No cost on that one. KMX is bare bones enough, leaving only one station with a real staff, 969. Look for the ‘aging’ of KMX’s music of late to be reversed, however, to not impact the new 955. Top 4 money making formats on the big sticks. Use little sticks to support and block. It's not rocket science.

I think your non-rocket science assessment is pretty close to dead center '76. One question to ponder ....... would it be best to blow up the heritage country or the big dog? The TVY tower because of it's location matches the foot print what should be the next "target" of TRP but is it worth making all the older (some really older) TVY listeners search for a new country station? Additionally, if you change the Big Dog then there would be "imaging" possibilities/slams that TRP won't use when they themselves have a canine. Time will tell.

You know this reads like you want the heritage AC station to fail. And your "next target" statement is laughable. Considering that WDJR is within an eyelash of giving up the number 1 Country station title to WTVY. I wouldn't just assume they can beat the number one Station in the market with their programming prowess. And if they were to, with what you agree with 1976 will be a VT'd station, a lot more people will lose their jobs. Since you are no longer in radio, you may not mind that another 10 or 20 radio folks hit the unemployment line. And as far as using "canine" slams against them, seems I remember the "old" KMX doing that multiple times to no avail.

But now John Garrett is making the BIG BUCKS at Bluewater BAB BAM...where the made a major salary cut with the former morning man and sent him to pm drive for less $$$.

No zuzu, I don't want a heritage AC station to fail. By no means what-so-ever do I. Additionally, I don't want anyone, not even one, anywhere to loose there job especially in this present economy. Maybe I am wrong, it wouldn't be the first time but I tend to be correct much more often. Time will tell, just like the competitive history of Mr. Holladay's stations in other markets and this one that led to my post which you found humorous. In time, I hope that you can say to me "I told you so". But for now the remaining local owners and their staffs had better be prepared. Can they be beaten? Oh yes, they certainly can be, and have been.

Much easier to achieve when you have control of 8 or 9 FM's to accomplish the task. Talk about stacking the deck.
