The (brief) return of David Paul

Disappointingly (to me, anyhow, because I like him), David lasted about three minutes on WGST.

He clearly had the jitters, then had his headphones croak, then abruptly bolted after no more than three minutes on-air.

Dammit.

HE WALKED OFF THE AIR? LIKE JUST GOT UP AND WALKED OUT???

Wait a second. Hold on. I did not listen. He did WHAT???? Walked off the air after thee minutes. Like 180 seconds...total? Reason? Is this a joke? David Paul...THE DAVID PAUL formerly of WSB...THAT David Paul????????????? Had the jitters? The jitters? How does that happen? HE WALKED OFF THE SET AFTER THREE MINUTES ON THE AIR...this is what you are telling me happened...this is what you want me to believe???? Medication imbalance? WHAT???? Walked off!!!!!!!!??????? Someone PLEASE explain this unprecedented and obviously humiliating manuever. If this is really true then the name David Paul and talk radio should be stricken from this radio message board and from any conversation about talk radio ever again. GST has to be embarresed and they should be.

Unfortunate

These things have happened before - it certainly is not the first time someone has walked away from stage fright or whatever may have been the case.

I didn't listen so I cannot really comment without any kind of reference from which to draw upon.

I think David may have just placed too much pressure on himself to impress and in doing so he may have just zoned out and crashed.

I'm sure that nobody else feels worse than he does right now - to be critical or to jump on the pile right now would be the easy thing to do - no more easier than shooting fish inside of a barrel.

If I am not mistaken David is a previously proven performer - which kind of makes this all the more baffling...but then again nobody can really state with any degree of certainty just what went down tonight.

Unfortunate to say the least.

Shake it off David - you'll bounce back.

I didn't hear it either, but there are a couple of things to keep in mind:
- When David Paul was on WSB years ago he had had very little radio experience. He was a former listener to a Florida talk show that had called in and dared to be put on the air. That was a LONG time ago and DP was younger, brasher and had less sense and more audacity than he has today.
- He's been off the air for over a decade. That will make ANYONE rusty, especially someone who - while good during his BRIEF stint at WSB - was far from a pro.
- According to all I've heard here, he's a born-again Christian (which, by the way, I don't bash, since I'm of the same faith). But the point is, if his ideals have truly changed that much over the years, then he would most likely feel a little (a lot?) less comfortable in an edgy, on-air atmosphere.

No matter what he ends up doing, I wish him luck. Sorry I missed his brief stint on the air though.

Class

I nominate the below message as the classiest post of the year.

Re: Class

I must agree with you jeffco. That was one class act message from DC, or Dino Costa. The man moved up a notch in my book. David Paul had a bad night that I am sure he will remember for years to come. Dino worded it well for all of us and for that I would like to say thank you Dino. David Paul, or Atlradioboy, we haven't heard from you, and I for one would love to hear that you are doing ok. Maybe another chance will come for you someday, and I am also sorry.

This is the thread on David Paul walking out at WGST. Is this when he was talking about his daughter hearing the show? How about the time at WSB?

You must really be into oldies, dude. Why else would anyone respond to 3 year old threads?

I responded to this thread because it was brought up on the new thread about David Paul discussion? Did you not read the entire page?
