The Comcast Network.

I would like to suggest that comcast make The comcast Network available to all cable systems that carry comcast sportsnet Philadelphia. This channel should not be on comcast systems only and should not be airing in out of market cities like Pittsburgh. The channel should be renamed CSN2.

You obviously didn't pay any attention to what I said in the other thread or you wouldn't have posted this thread. It's this simple if you didn't read what I said:

None of the other cable networks share their networks so why should they? RCN has RCN8, Service Electric Cable has TV2 and FiOS is launching their network to compete with Cablevision's News12. These networks are all owned and operated by their respective providers and you don't see people bitching about not being able to get these channels. There's no requirement that these networks be distributed to other systems and there shouldn't be. Comcast has apparently made The Comcast Network available to it's competitors but apparently no one wants to bite on it because it would directly compete with their own network.

I know what you said in the FIOS thread. I just wanted to start a separate thread about The Comcast Network.

What's the need for a separate thread saying it should be available to all cable providers when it was pointed out the network is available to those that choose to make a deal to carry it? The first point of your post has been proven to be inaccurate, because it is available. As to what airs in other cities or what it's called, have you considered there's a reason it's not the way you suggest?

I think that Comcast should be made to sell CSN-Philly to DirecTv. I suggest that all PA, NJ, and DE residents that have DirecTv call their Senators in Washington and demand that the FCC closes the loophole.

Julius, could you e-mail all 6 Senators to ask why Comcast doesn't sell CSN to DirecTv? Forget healthcare, the Senate should fix the loophole. How about asking the new Dem controlled FCC the same thing. While your at it, ask them to fix the reception problem with channel 6 so that we can get all the WPVI weather hotties in HD ota before they move into the new bldg. They could just add more UHF stations back. It's the government, they can do anything they want. Just keep e-mailing Congress until they fix all these problems.

Concerning the overflow games on CN8, or whatever it is called now, how about making the overflow games available to Verizon so that they can carry it on their own local station or just have an overflow channel of their own. How about FiOS8? Move WGN somewhere else. Up in Boston, NESN carries Sox and Bruins. When both are playing, one team is on NESN+ which is carried on Comcast, Verizon, and DirecTV. It only turns on (I have it on DirecTv channel 629) when 2 game are on at the same time. It is right next to NESN, channel 628 and CSN-NE, channel 630.

It is amazing that I can get CSN-NE on DirecTv but not CSN-Philly. It really amazes me that the FCC doesn't care but, when Fox bought all the SportsChannels and then their parent company News Corp went and bought a controlling interest in DirecTv, the FCC was concerned that Fox and News Corp would with hold the regional FSN channels from cable companies.

Comcast should fire Brian Roberts and hire you.

LMAO!

Well here we go. All local broadcasts of Flyers games will be on cable this season. 63 on CSN, 10 on Comcast Network. http://flyers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=498649&navid=phi-home-dl This is exactly why RCN, Service electric, FIOS and other non comcast systems in this market should pick up Comcast Network to avoid any complaints from the Flyers fans not being able to see the local broadcasts of the games. At least someone has to agree with me on that.

Do, or do not, the fans have a choice of which provider they want? I mean, seriously, I tell my kids that it's not someone's responsibility to give you exactly the choices you want--you pick which things are most important to you and accept you don't get every single thing exactly your way.

So with that said, have you ever heard of business decisions? Maybe 10 games, and the comparatively small base of Flyers plans, doesn't make--in their judgement--it worth paying for the channel. Maybe it does. But no, no one HAS to agree with you.

Ah, makes sense. Much like that great household product, 2000 Flushes.

I know but I'm just saying that people that live in non comcast areas of have FIOS will be complaining about the fact that they can't watch Sixers, Flyers and Phillies games because its on The Comcast Network. I would not be shocked that the local broadcasts Sixers games will be on cable only this season (CSN and Comcast Network). That's why I feel that something should be done about this so everyone in the tri-state on all cable systems can see their local teams. Comcast has been holding the fans hostages long enough and I think its time that they bend a little and at least let all non comcast cable systems in this market carry the channel.

Having FiOS or satellite or Comcast or RCN are all choices. It is an exception that only one provider is available at a paritcular address. It's not a company's responsibility--though it is obviously a choice--to throw a lot of money into 10 games. If it's worth it, great, but it may not be...and it's not some Earth-shattering issue.

Life is filled with choices, and it's not anyone's obligation to give people every single thing they want. Sometimes they make a sacrifice on one point to get what they want on another point.

Bottom line on this entire discussion is since it doesn't go up to a bird and is microwave only, they don't have to provide it to anyone. It's their own marketing exclusive and until the FCC rules otherwise (and it has been before them a couple of times), that's the whole story.

Wow, and I predicted the sun would rise in the morning. Guess what, I was right!

About as meaningful a limb to go out on, there.
