a google search brought this up; apparently from a couple of weeks
back-out of something called the tacoma Volcano (?)
Most are familiar with Dick Rossetti from his days as a smart-ass DJ on 107.7 the End. Rossetti had a decent run with the Entercom ruled frequency, until Entercom decided they’d rather have a radio station that sucked and featured putrid audio excrement like Adam Corolla and the Church of Lazlo. Rossetti was let go.
But for longer than Rossetti was a Seattle radio personality he’s been a rocker. His obvious expertise on the subject is one of the things that made him so appealing on-air. He’s fronted a string of beautifully gritty local rock outfits, including Twink the Wonder Kid and the short lived Root Barrel. Now Rossetti brings his latest offering, Guns & Rossetti to Tacoma.
For those who miss Rossetti on the radio, rest assured he misses you, too — kind of. While certain parts of the job still seem to have a place in Rossetti’s heart, it doesn’t sound like he holds his former employer in very high regard.
“I miss working with Harms and Jim Keller. Without sounding like sour grapes — I can't believe they're (Entercom) letting that 'clown' (Lazlo) sink the station,” says Rossetti.
“With that said, the statement may be a disservice to actual clowns, who are regarded as funny and somewhat entertaining.”

So much for the MUSIC either.....
I wish KNDD can REVIVE the "Alterative Declaration", not because a POTENTIAL competitior is their midst, but what is REAL. Otherwise one competitor CAN show up and KICK KNDD's butt. And that would be sad, because KNDD is Seattle's LONGEST running competitor in the commercial modern rock format. KZAM-AM, KJET, KYYX and KRQI can't say that.
I think a station for it's signal reach and audience potential can reach far beyond KRAB rating levels again.
Remember, the MAJOR label conglomerates don't pay much attention to what's cutting edge and innovating. They never have. It's all on YouTube, MySpace and Facebook these days. Use this to your advantage.
LISTEN.... and learn.......don't be afraid to check out the Northwest indies like K, and Kill Rock Stars labels these days....there's tons of AWESOME music KNDD is missing out on that they can turn into radio PLATINUM if they would focus beyond the radio s--t sheets like R&R. But they always keep falling back into the old patterns of the latest hype bulls--t.
Fun for a while, but gets old quick. It's always those high school and college kids jamming out together in garages and musty basements that both Bill Gates and modern rock radio seems to be afraid of these days......
What is there to fear?
Listen......there's some incredible untapped talent on that level you will NEVER see on American Idol. Not because they are untalented, it's because they want to make their mark the OLD SCHOOL way. By constant practice and HARD WORK.
While Daughtry may have some talent, there's a lot more than Nickelback imitators out there..... (Not saying KNDD plays Daughtry...haven't listened too much-anybody know? They actually played "Wherever You Go" The Calling once and this treaded dangerously into Daughtry territory even before Daughtry even washed his last dish in a restaurant. Hope they drew the line somewhere......)
And yes, I tolerate (somewhat) stations that do play Daughtry......but only in the RIGHT format. Daughtry is HOT AC at it's HOTTEST. Not active rock or modern.
But I will confess, my oldest daughter LIKES Daughtry and she wants me to buy the CD for her. So not to start a cross-generational fight, I'll buy it......Once she suddenly starts to LIKE broccoli (and not feed it to the dog with sleight of hand. I'm hip to that. I did it too once.)
Easy choice.....ain't it? (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
She also thinks Justin Timberlake is cool, same with Fergie and One Republic (I'll admit "Apologize" is a guilty pleasure of mine..WHADD'YA LOOKIN AT? HUH?)

Look you can't really fault Laslo for this mess the station is in. Entercom brought him in as the station was struggling and wanted him to shake things up. So he figures that if he had success at his KC station by going heavy on new music, that ultimately he would have the same success here. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. Plus if you take a peak at the ratings on entercoms KC station, they began to slide just as he was leaving and their numbers continuie to drop. Is it his fault or just the state of alternative radio today? What amazes me is the number of gold based classic alternative stations now popping up around the country. Years ago, Seattle essentially had 2 of them, and now nothing. One was yanked after a year and the other has gone talk heavy in mornings and afternoons with a focus on new music the rest of the day. You can't fault the guy for trying though....I'm sure he is extremely passionate about his work, but at some point Entercom will realize the direction he is taking the station in is not working. And then ultimately its up to them to decide how long they will stay the course.

Lazlo's show -- and, by extension, where he seems to be guiding The End -- is what would happen if drunken teens or cliche' frat boys took over the station. They'd spend most of the time admiring the sound of their own voices and laughing at their own f@rt jokes. Making money with every gimmick possible would be the next priority. Then, finally, the music. But by that time, they'd either be too hung over and/or exhausted to care, so they'd just grab their buddy Dave's iPod and plug it into the console. Dave, of course, has more (of his parents') money than sense, so he just loads it up with whatever is supposed to be the latest and greatest on iTunes and calls it a day.

TU1, will all respect you seem a tad passive/aggressive on this one.concerning laslo,he's not passionate,he's lazy,uncreative and in way over his head,anyone working with him in that bldg will tell you the same.
If that's the case, how come upper management isn't doing something about it? Doesn't Dave Richards oversee the end along with his duties at KISW? Why doesn't he step up and get this station heading back in the right direction. He was around back when the end was a major player in their demo, I'm sure he has some idea of what's needed to resurrect this station.

The only on air talent left from when he took over - Chris Travis, Harms, and Neal the midnight cowboy. I don't think any of the above three has more than a couple of hours a week on air, anymore.

TU1-understood and agreed.you must remember this is the same company,if memory serves well,that let bob rivers,the mariners and andy savage just slip away when all were doing very well.one wonders if exitcomm management in other markets is this shambolic?

Would still personally love to hear a station in-between KISW and KZOK that is music intensive. In morning and afternoon drive it is hard to find good rock in this market. The END is off target. Young alternative music listeners have fled to the web, IPODS and social net sites. I suspect the END is not likely to improve much, since anything they do to improve would hurt KISW.
However a mainstream CHR, done well could be an interesting move. Something aimed in-between KBKS and KUBE. KQMV gets this by default right now. Something similar to the HOT-HITS Houston move this week. It wouldn't hurt KISW, KMTT, KWFF and would bring younger demos to the station to combo with KISW or KWFF.

The hole that The End should be filling would be a more commercial, more mainstream version of KEXP or maybe something like JACK minus the 60's/70's rock and plus a few smart DJ's who can talk music.
I've mentioned this before, but it bears repeating: I think Jack would do much better with personality. The Vancouver and Victoria Jacks have DJs and I think are doing okay. While I know there can never be an X again, I think getting some certain out of work DJs would really help out.

The end of The End prompted me to look up JACK's playlist. Other than Asia, Pink Floyd and a few other moldy oldies, it ain't as bad as I'd perceived. Give JACK a few personalities... Jim Keller, Bill Reid... some sunny-voiced gal... You could really have something!

Do you really think that CBS is going to dish out another $250-500k in annual expenses on a station that has already peaked and that is not about jocks?
Jack in Seattle is actually pretty well-programmed station. Even with no jocks they manage to out-localize other stations, like Movin'.
