Sorry Charlie. Sell it to someone else, someone who has not been listening to the station from day one like I have been. I am no idiot. I can tell the changes in the play list. It is now the old same BORING formula that you know-it-alls in radio think oldies / classic hits listeners want to hear and time and time again you know-it-alls ruin station after station that way.

Yeah, you tell 'em. Toonces. After all, what do those "know it alls" know about programming a station that YOU and the two dozen people that post on this board like? :![]()

Also, I don't see the advantage of playing lesser more obscure songs over playing hits that more people know. The average listener will tune out a song they don't know or like.Isn't the idea to appeal to the most people?

Nothing is wrong with that song by Harrison but it fits on other stations, not on KMCQ which is supposed to be 60s and 70s.

There's a balance, I think. A format full of deep cuts and forgotten oldies is pretty much a guaranteed 0.2 share...but playing nothing but the most familiar songs can also be rather boring. After all, a listener who never wants to hear anything unfamiliar may as well listen to their own collection on an MP3 player. Spiking in the forgotten songs as an occasional "oh, wow" track seems like it would be a viable way of programming a station and balancing between being too familiar versus being too obscure.
