The Fly on the Perun Wall Says...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but in the last Radio Waves, Ben Fong sez Cammy isn't doing radio any more.

Did she ever? :D

Okay on Cammy. What is the story on the houselceaning and frequency switch. And if KFRC moves back to 99.7 (duh!) what will end up at 106.9? And who is this Perun guy and what is his deal.

"Cammy is a friend of mine and I resent her being referred to like that. Show some respect. I've been off the air since 1999... what's that make me?"

Fair enough. I also agree with you, I can get pretty worked up sometimes. Working in radio is not an easy profession, even though I no longer work in the biz, I still respect those of you that sit behind the mic everyday because I know what you're dealing with. Cammy and I go back a ways...like 20 years or so...she used to do traffic for me before becoming a big star.

Some things I don't especially crave for myself nor feel a need to afford others: Respect. Manners. Class. Give me a good reason to operate otherwise.

Cammy has burned a lot of bridges to companies that have given her huge opportunities. Bridges gone, usefulness gone. Used up. How could the fact that she is your friend change that dynamic?

Dung, I am unsure of your own history in that context, so of course have no point of reference with which to guess what that would make you. I do know you were well listened to, and many of your verbal mannerisms actually became a part of the local lexicon. Kudos. Not many radio shows penetrated the zeitgeist thus. A nice history to have.

Respect. Manners. Class. usually help define a persons character. I've had to deal with this type of disrespect in my own life and it's mean and hurtful. What a person does for a living and who they are, are two different things. I guess once you no longer want to play their game, you become "useless" or "a washed-up oldies DJ" whatever...I see your point...but I feel its a bit heartless...maybe if the tables were turned you'd feel differently about it... karma has a way of doing that... BTW Thanks for your nice compliment :D

Respect diffuses when demanded, and as such cannot be returned. Manners and class are illusory, subjective, and just too situational to be generalized as a foundations of character. So wrong answer, I guess. Anyway, I'm not the reverent type.

maybe if the tables were turned you'd feel differently about it

Tables always turn for poor slobs like us in radio. The punches come from above, below, inside and out. Rolling with them is part of surviving, and ultimately winning the game you describe...which, by the way, is never only "their" game. Cammy had a lot of punches to deliver, and simply couldn't handle those she received. Remember she didn't leave either of her SF jobs because her shows sucked. We become useless when we make ourselves so. Washed up is not the term I would use.

And you...why aren't you in negotiations with Adam Nathanson this minute, presenting him with a rock solid undeniably mutually beneficial plan of action to seat yourself at the Mapleton table for some of that national Ham?

Now I've gone and furthered the thread deterioration I originally complained about.

Soooooo..................how about that KFRC?
