"The Jersey Shore Shuffle"

Just happened to read a thread on the newly up and running WBNJ who seems to be well intentioned as they serve the market with a blend of Standards and Soft AC and "jukebox tunes" and it got me more and more fixated on the notion of "Serving the public" which they (as a minority in this instance) actually are doing by filling a format void 24/7 unlike WOBM-AM. As an avid fan of the mysterious Jersey Shore Shuffle I think whoever is the pioneer of this station should seriously consider contacting the Brick BOE about the prospects of airing the content on the silent stick. Aside from out of market stations like CBS-FM which don't make it reliably past Tinton Falls and a not-so-clear WOGL depending on where you are in the market, this station certainly DOES fill a void in programming in the market, one that WJRZ previously held and abandoned.

I have enjoyed everything I have heard on this station and thank THIS board for bringing it to the attention of us all. I have caught it a few times personally on the dial but typically catch it online. It truly IS a fun listen and I have to think it would do fairly well with it's ecllectic blend of tunes and the element of "surprise" that it showcases hour after hour.

I'm still looking for the AIM screenname online but have yet to score. Just wanted to say props again and a nice tribute for the 4th of July with the patriotic songs and the summer songs this past weekend. Who would have thought that a pirate could/would have such a loyal following? Well maybe Sal Anthony did from what I have read on him...

;)

Why can't we show this love to each and every one of the pirate stations in Newark?

Because the formats that are on those pirates are already on the dial legally. Yes, WBLS has caribbean music programming every Saturday nights. And 87.7 plays caribbean music on weekends now.

I like the format, btw. Perhaps Greater Media will throw it on WJRZ after Magic 100.1 tanks! :)

Perhaps based on the latest book the folks at Greater Media should really call on the operator of "The Jersey Shore Shuffle" for some "Consulting" for 100.1 since they are leading the category of "bottom-feeders" in the Monmouth-Ocean book. Seems like 104.1 is the only station (albeit an apparent pirate) that is providing an outlet for 60's music and more. There seems to be more passion for this station than defunct stations like G-Rock or WJSE... that's pretty telling!

It's been a few weeks since I have been down at the Jersey Shore visiting family. I'm glad I chose this past weekend to go. Thanks for The "Elvis Presley Tribute" 33 years since his passing. :( You can always count on The Jersey Shore Shuffle to be on Top of any Special Events, Holiday Weekends or just The Summer Music Weekends at The Jersey Shore. My parents really enjoyed The Elvis Tribute as did I. I do love all of the excellent Imaging you have too. That in itself Rocks! You really seem to put alot of time and effort into The JSS. Sounded GREAT listening to the Station on the Radio while we were driving around with the top down. We even were stopped at a traffic light on RT.37 and a car next to us had the Jersey Shore Shuffle on too. The Top of the Hour ID was on then "Suspicious Minds" came on. I thought that was pretty cool! I don't even miss WJRZ anymore (the old format and especially the new format) when I'm down there visiting. When I am at home or at work the Stream is always on and it still sounds Fantastic! :D. Keep Rockin The Jersey Shore Shuffle!!! ;) Can't wait to hear whats in store for "The Labor Day Weekend" I'll be back down there with my car radio Turned up and Tuned in to "The Jersey Shore Shuffle".

This station's continued existence is proof that the FCC doesn't do anything about pirates, no matter what format.

LOL, oh come on, it's not like this station is blasting the same format you can pick up on 103.9 from here or the countless tropical/caribbean pirates in North Jersey. 8)

I know, but there are people that say that the FCC shuts down non-minority pirates quickly. This one's been on for months and not even a NOUO has been issued.

It's been on more than just a few months ...
I first heard them last April 2009 ...

Cheers for "The Jersey Shore Shuffle" for having sooooooo many dedicated listeners. :D Thats a Great Station regardless of what it is! Maybe some legal Stations should listen and learn from it! Take a look at all the recent numbers stations in that area are bringing in. ???

I agree with DJ Dala. I never heard a station with such a wide variety of music that mixes well together no matter what song is played and the sweepers with the female gal sound great. ;) Kudo's to JSS whoever is behind it pirate or not if JSS was on a HD channel of a legal station it would have a high rating in the Arbitrons. :) Also I never heard such a clean bright sounding stream. Keep up the good work and sound JSS.

After one aggravating ride down the parkway this morning on my way to the beach (to see what all the "Earl-hype" was about) I was looking forward to my fix of The Jersey Shore Shuffle. What I didn't expect was something so cool and so unique, it seems like they are doing a "Sex on the Beach Weekend" with lots of "sex" and "provacative" songs thrown into the mix. This station definitely needs a bigger signal for this format and maybe they should seek out the 91.9 license from Brick as some others have mentioned. Creativity clearly LIVES at this spot on the dial.

A Weekend "Must Listen" in my opinion!!

Well Done and Keep Rockin'!! I'll be tuned in right through Monday!!

;D

Personally with ALL the talk today about the changes that Press is implementing across the board with their properties, I would have liked to see someone some way some how, track down the operator of The Jersey Shore Shuffle for some programming "consulting" because in all honesty the market isn't really changing if you think about it... it's merely a rearranging of the deck chairs. Don't let me infer that Thunder isn't a solid performer (infact one of the better in market stations ratings-wise) but the same offerings are on the dial just at a different location. Kudos though for seeing an opportunity to offer programming where a "void" existed on the part of Press. I do feel for Matt Knight as he departs a company that he gave so much to.

It's been a hell of a week for Jersey Shore Radio with the tweaks and changes but the one Millennium has offered up is not very "polished" and certainly needs some "TLC" if it is even going to consider itself a player in the market. WJRZ was a decent station and if the folks at Millennium think that voice-tracking 75% of the jock lineup and interrupting the flow with Sports all year long is a winner for 1160/1310, they may as well have turned off the transmitter and shut the lights behind them. Those two don't play well. I will say that it is nice to have some 60's back on the dial again albeit on the AM. And what is this sports thing that The Hawk has thrown on weeknights? Who are these hosts and where did they originate?

Thankfully the Jersey Shore Shuffle is on the FM and has never disappointed me in the year since it surfaced. I enjoyed the Sex on the Beach weekend too. I was peeing my pants with some of the imaging. I wonder how many people are affiliated with this operation because there seems to be ample talent surrounding it...

Carry on... I just wanted to offer praise for a little "gem" in Ocean County somewhere!
:D

Mike & Joe used to do an afternoon sports talk show on 1160 & 1310 before everything changed around. I've heard them fill in on 97.3 before they moved to 105.7.

WOBM-AM has gotten better over the past few days....guess the kinks have been shaken out (for the most part). Do agree about the sports interruptions, but hey, I guess it helps pay the bills. PM drive the past two days sounded live, better than nothing.

Did anyone catch the 911 tribute last-night on the JSS? It was a well produced hour of music and tribute liners by the gal who I think is behind it. I really do think this brainstorm station is runned by a woman who really has a great knowledge of music and what should be on the radio. I wonder if she where's a suit? Those suit guys should maybe learn from her that 300 worn out songs don't cut the cake anymore for radio. Nice job JSS. I enjoy listening to you on my computer every chance I have and on the radio when I'm in the area. ;D

I have heard this station on 1710 kHz in Brick within the last three months.

Where is it on the FM band?

It's on 104.1, usually Friday thru Monday ..
Wasn't aware it was on AM too .. will have to check that out ..

Found it by accident driving to the house. In listening to the DJ, there was mention of 1710 once in a while.
Do you want the exact location or close to it as I haven't narrowed it down to the exact address yet.

Listened to this stream for the first time for the first time. There is mention of Am 1710 or NJ 1710 Before and After the INN news so I assume its on all the time I guess as a Part 15 . I'll have to listen next time I'm in Ocean County. Is the FM on 91 or 104 (when it's on).
They really live up to the no repeat workday sweeper. Love the Very large play list. The 5 decades of music they claim they are playing mixes very well. Someone who was or is still in the biz is probably running this operation. I also agree with the previous posts The stereo stream is very clean better then some of the big station streams. In addition to the spots inside the newscast I heard an old Dr Pepper Spot and old Jingle for Winston Cigarettes. Tobacco spot on an internet stream and 1710 is that legal. WJRZ and WRAT have nothing on HD 2. JSS would be great on either one preferably WRAT as you can get it in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Hats off to who ever is behind this operation.
