I could have sworn it was on earlier than that...

Maybe it was I heard one of the on air guys say that while in the bay area last night. So I guess he was wrong! Sorry! This station might do well during the day
but at night they should just go off the air.

How strong is the signal for KPIG on 1510am? Because I can't hear it in Western San Jose/Cupertino area. The 1510am I am hearing is some Vietnamese programming. Anyone can suggest an alternate way to listen to KPIG? or am I pretty much being left out for the moment?...

their signal is very crappy and directional (into SF from Piedmont); you can't get 'em in SJ (you're hearing Vietnamese on 1500, I think). And they switch to even lower power after sundown. You can still listen on the internet at kpig.com but you have to subscribe.

No, you DON'T have to subscribe. KPIG has been available for several years at Shoutcast/Winamp for free, save a several month hiatus during the copyright fiasco. It's been back at least a couple of years. The KPIG websight doesn't let you know it's there, however, I suspect because of some sort of marketing agreement with Real RadioPass.

It's a horrible signal...unless you're a seagull on the ocean or a ship at sea...it's very directional out to SF and the Pacific with 8000 watts daytime and a lousy 230 watts a night - I believe a hamster in a wheel powers the nighttime transmitter.

The towers are on a building on West Grand Avenue in Oakland right before you get onto the Bay Bridge.

Good luck picking it up.

The signal screams across the Bay Bridge into the most densely populated real estate in the area with 8000 watts during morning and evening commute. Do the math, 2% circulation on the Bay Bridge traffic count alone would net more listeners that their two FM's do. I think this is more about passion than money, though. Anybody remember passion??????

I don't think they'll play Rod Stewart on there, do you?
