The latest on 102.5

The calls for 102.5 and 89.9 are set to change tommorrow so do we know if 102.5 becomes K Love at midnight or at noon or some other time. Will EMF use 89.9 to direct listeners to 102.5 for a week or so or automatically flip to Air 1. I guess we will find out.

A discussion of science, faith and religion among radio people is fascinating. The fact that we dipped a small toe in this puddle, not knowing the depth of the puddle nor it's contents, intrigues the heck out of this poster, but the discussion seems destined to wind up in the "Take It Outside" file. Perhaps a separate category devoted to Metaphysics and Philosophy can be created. Ahem.

Any idea what EMF might choose for new call letters on 102.5? Might the call letters of 89.9 be transferred to 102.5?

EMF moved the calls from 89.9 today to 102.5fm, so 102.5 is WBKV and 89.9 became WBWA for Air one. Not sure what is actually airing on both signals right now.

When a call letter change is tied to a sale, the date is only the expected time of going into effect. If the sale closing gets delayed, the call change is not yet active. So until the notice of consummation is granted by the FCC, 102.5 is still legally WTSS.

As a further example, 88.1 WNJS-FM Berlin NJ applied in March to become WTHA as of 5/1. But the sale closing was not filed until this morning, so the station is still legally WNJS-FM.

As of 12:45pm, nothing was being aired at 102.5FM. The transmitter was off. Nothing but static on the frequency. I’ll be checking in later to hear if K-Love is being launched today. I have an HD radio. Interestingly, WKSE is operating four HD channels at 98.5. HD-1 is Kiss. HD-2 is The Wolf. HD-3 is WBEN. And HD-4 is WGR.

Burying WGR on HD4 renders it virtually unlistenable…

This is the only way for them to feed 104.7 and have AM HD Simulcasts, no other signal will cover the market as well as WKSE.

Indeed, the HD-4 signal sounds like an audio stream from the dawn of the Internet age. I’d rather listen to WGR on AM than that. I now understand why Audacy placed The Wolf on HD-2. But they might as well have dropped WGR from its HD line-up rather than shoehorning it in like this.

102.5 is no longer broadcasting in HD. FM only. For now, both frequencies are simulcasting K-Love. At some point, 89.9 will broadcast a related contemporary Christian music format called Air1.
Thanks for Confirming! It will be interesting to see the HD lineup on 102.5 when it comes. EMF is aggressive with HD2+

Yes, I listened to HD4 for about 5 minutes, and could not take it anymore, switched to AM and it sounded 100% better. Never thought I'd say that.
