The Loose Canons on FSR.

ESPN can be more demanding than a part-time affiliate (like a news-talker) would allow. There are very, very few ESPN affiliates who don't clear Mike and Mike. If I'm a PD or GM for a news talker, I probably don't want to run Mike and Mike. I once read through the full set of rules for affiliating with ESPN radio, but its been several years and I forget most of the details.

My local news talker runs Dave Ramsey in the morning. Mike and Mike would be an upgrade.

in the morning? that's almost a 1 day delay...anything would be an upgrade.

ESPN can be demanding, if you follow their strict rules, you have to carry at least an hour of M&M, the afternoon show and a certian number of hours every day to even call yourself ESPN, which is why a lot of the affiliates that don't clear the drivetime shows leave the "ESPN Radio" branding in their local imaging

This can't be 100%/universal. Our local "ESPN 850 WKNR" does clear M&M, but runs nothing else from the network from 9 AM until 10 PM weekdays. It's all local, except for 3 hours of Rome.

They may be able to do this because they do clear ESPN's midday product on sister station "KNR2" (WWGK/1540), but they break back to FSR for afternoon drive. They also carry FSR's Stephen A. Smith in morning drive until 9 AM, when they switch to ESPN to pick up the last hour of M&M (which used to air on 850 until the local midday show expanded to three hours).

What else does Hartman do besides Loose Cannons. His voice is annoying.

He's a weekend sportscaster over at KTLA, joining them over the summer; prior to that, he was a back-up sportscaster to the "legendary" Jim Hill at KCBS/KCAL across town.
