The "Magic" returning to WMAG?

Wrong, Stations still submit forms before each rating period with whatever slogn they want on file for purposes
of getting credit in diary's. Until all markets go PPM the slogan file does exist. In fact stations now submit
that information for HD2 channels as well

WMAG is no longer using the national premium choice AC feed that Clear Channel offers (WLYT uses it and still does). I never really liked the music programming on it anyway.

Now they look like they're playing a LOT more 70s music and more conservative with newer music especially. Smart move, it will help attract some of the 94.1 audience. I think the Adam Lambert/Lady GaGa/Rhianna stuff is gone. Someone local must actually be programming.

You know CC so don't count on any local programming! The MM is out to lunch and their does not seem to be anybody in the house that really knows whats going on. Sellers are bailing or looking for alternative employment faster than rats on a sinking ship and would image air staff would be also if they had any.

Well, they are clearly not using the national AC feed CC offers. Someone somewhere is doing it locally and more older music has been added. See 9AM hour:

9:02am
Bill Medley - I've Had The Time of My Life
9:07am
Diamond Rio - One More Day
9:10am
Kool and the Gang - Celebration
9:14am
Sheryl Crow - If It Makes You Happy
9:18am
James Taylor - Fire and Rain
9:22am
George Michael - Faith
9:25am
Miley Cyrus - The Climb
9:28am
Bee Gees - Stayin Alive
9:33am
Melissa Etheridge - Come To My Window
9:36am
America - Sister Golden Hair
9:39am
Orleans - Still The One
9:47am
John Waite - Missing You
9:51am
Seals and Crofts - Summer Breeze
9:54am
Smashmouth - All Star
9:57am
Elton John - Sad Songs

That is the best looking music hour I've seenin a while. Hope theyt aren't getting too heavy! :'( :-* :-\ :-X :-[ :(
Great new logo and a rocking new sounds! :-\

My guess is that Nick Allen, former WMAG programmer for many years, has his hands in this. He knows the station really well and he and Kim are pretty tight. I believe Nick is still at the Charlotte cluster.

Looked good all day. AC stations that play more older music traditionally do better. Smart move. With more 70s/80s you get some of the 94.1 audience while running off little if any of the existing AC audience.

Looks like he's doing a good job. Some smart moves lately. ;)

Word has it that WTHZ is not happy that Clear Channel has picked up the Magic slogan. Seems WTHZ has a trademark on the slogan and it appears that legally they may keep WMAG from being magic.

One of 94.1's problems as Majic, was that WMAG has always been know as magic by people in the market. Even though MAG dropped the name some time ago, I still thing WMAG when someone says magic.

Even if you have trademark law on your side [for a trademark you ripped off from someone else even] you can't erase the fact that 99.5 still means "Magic" to most people.

99.5 is the original Magic. "Majic" 94.1 ripped off their logo from Majic 105.7 (WMJI) in Cleveland and edited the frequency out of the logo with some cheap photo editing software. How were they allowed to do that? 99.5 is a much better/more professional station and deserves the name. I hope they get to use it.

Anyone who has been in this market for a while still thinks of WMAG as Magic. 94.1's rip-off was a cheap attempt to capitalize on the heritage of WMAG. They really didn't have the class or finess to pull it off and the end of the station says it all. The owners and management of 94.1 have a small (?) ethics problem. Why would they give a rats at this point if WMAG took back their rightful moniker?

What they may have had was a North Carolina Service Mark - not to be confused with a trade mark. Under NC law, you are allowed to protect words, phrases and graphic designs for use within a certain field. This is handled by the Secretary of State's office and is fairly inexpensive. A federal trade mark would supersede the NC registration but it would be up to the rights holder to file an infringment complaint. Trade marks and service marks are not automatically enforced. Certain generic words and phrases can not be service marked.

Well, whatever's going on, apparently, they're no longer saying "Magic"; they are now just saying "99.5 WMAG." Hmmm...

I suspect the Nimrods at WTHZ have some sort of hold on the use of Magic and they're preventing 99.5 from using it. They're such a-holes! Why would they care if they're not going to use it? Just a power thang!
