"The New" Majic 1027

Wow...quick turn around...Majic has now brought back the 60's. Acoustic Storm will be back on as well! Didn't take long for them to actually listen to their listeners!! LOL "Classic Tracks of the 60s, 70s, 80s"

Well, there you go. In a market that is 50% Hispanic, this station only got 37% Hispanic listening. KRTH in LA, a market that is 40% Hispanic, has nearly 55% Hispanic listening... Without maximizing the appeal to Hispanics, this station will continue to be a mediocre performer.

And then there is the issue that nearly 60% of the listeners are 55+, which pretty much why it is 14th to 17th in 25-54. Even WFEZ does better in 25-54!

Big dif between Miami and LA. Cubans have their own station, and you might as well not even try to compete with it. Better to keep the North Shore happy.

Is "Big" worth targeting?

Not as far as I see! LOL - I don't think it's about age, after all Ron St. John is still there ;) While they kept Beatles Brunch, they dumped the "Acoustic Storm" program.

No Loss... Accoustic Storm never fit their format anyway, and was certainly not the expected music fare waking up on a Sunday morning.

First, in sales demos, over 50% of the Hispanic population is not Cuban or Cuban-American.

And in LA, Hispanics have 16 stations in Spanish. But we are not talking about Spanish language stations... but about bilingual or English dominant Hispanics who like English language oldies... as well as the many immigrants from Latin America who are Spanish dominant but who have always listened to English language music on one of the many stations all over Latin America that play English pop hits.

Again, you can't win big in Miami without indexing well against Hispanics.

There's no majic in the new 102.7 format. There is no more personality to the station... just an awkward mix of continuous music punctuated with commercials.

The morning drive is lifeless and sounds automated and strained. No information, no chatter, no laughter. Terrible, terrible, terrible. Such an untimely, intentional death of a station.

Barry I agree with you 100% The new Majic sucks!!! They have a 2.9 now, it will probably go to a 1.0 soon!! WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER CLASSIC ROCK STATION HERE!! If you listen to Big they are airing promos stabbing at Magic!! Amazing. I talked to someone at Big and they said Majic is going to destroy themselves ESPECALLY IF THEY KEEP PLAYING JIMI HENDRIX!! Which I heard last night and almost threw up my doritos. I should be PD.
T.J.
