The New Movin' is SO Boring and stop calling it Dance

Agree or disagree?

This station plays the same worn out songs over and over and over. No good currents. Repeats after repeats of played out songs that were played out already on the other stations. And please stop calling it a Dance station. Boy I wish it was a dance station. And yes.. The imaging sucks. I've heard High School stations with better imaging.

Are you a 25-44 second generation Hisppanic female?

(That is the group Movin' is predominantly after, with white suburban females second.)

The format is "rhythmic" and not dance. Dance does not work anywhere in the US or the western hemisphere, so that is a moot point.

I didnt think the Movin format was to really have any currents per se so to lament the lack of any good currents may mean that you're just not a fan of the format itself and not KZLA's execution of the format.

Oh, I didn't see that on the paper were Emmis was supposedly licensed to serve the community in the public interest.

Whites not apply. Men not apply. Old people not apply. Young people not apply.

Welcome to the wonderful world of America, land of the barrios, home of the powerbuyers.

(Psst: It's bait, Dave, don't take it)

It may be bait, but it is wrong.

Any station can pick any target they want. In this case, it is mostly Hispanic females, second generation, 25-44. That means that a) they were born here and are citzens and, b) that they are an attractive advertising target.

This is no different than uban AC targeting Black females in the same demo.

Yes, those of us who consider ourselves to be "Unitedstatesians" suffer as a result ;)

What part of "second generation" don't you understand?

And what part of D-E bait do you not understand?

Viven los unitedstatesianistas!

This thread was hijacked. We now return you to the original topic, and the 5 or 10 posts it will get:

I personally find Movin a work in progress.

You may think you're a SuperNova in the radiofield, DE, but you sure are deaf, dumb, and blind when someone is making fun of you!

This is America and if a Radio Station wants to target a certain demographic then make it so.
There are a few people that post on this board that sound like children (or) are bitter because they no longer work in the biz. Please be more civil about your discussions....

Unless you use the handy emoticons ??? listed above the posting box  it is very hard to understand :-\ sarcasm 8) humor :D and such.

Nobodey is a "supernova" but you might skip back to the start of this thread, where a poster who would appear to be a non-Hispanic male fails to "get" the target of Movin'. You would prefer such clueless posters continue to wander the planet with such woefully ignorant views?

So pilot, (and anyone else) how much of the pie are we talking about re. KMVN? Hispanic females (lets see females generally are 50% of the listenership out there) 25-44 (50% of what... who knows?). So we are then left with a figure that will be divided by what radio stations?

Have a good night 8), I'm sure you'll be here :'( into the wee hours of the morning LOL! :D

Particularly if you have no sense of humor.

Given the generally higher TSL of Hispanics whether Spanish or English dominant, this one could be good for a 3 share. Jammin' Oldies was an attempt after the same demo, and gut to that range and could not hold it. The fact that Movin' has a recurrent base and has much stronger songs than much of the Jammin' library makes it definitely a station that could assemble a 3. I see about 0.8 to 1.0 coming form KIIS, with a 0.7 to 0.8 coming form KBIT, about a 0.7 from KHHT, and a bit of the rest coming from all over, including Spanish stations like KLVE and, particularly, KSSE.

Women 25-44 are about 19% of the market, population wise. Hispanic women are about 50% of that (the market is 50% or more Hispanic under age 45), so we have 10% of the market, and a group that TSLs about 25% obove the average. So there are about 12 shares for Hispanic women in this demo, and about 6 of them for and English station. Add in non-Hispanic white suburban women who like rhymic CHR without hip hop, and there are probably 9 total shares to draw from. If they can cume 60% and get good P1 or P2 TSL, a 3 is certainly not looking too high.

Replying to the first post--because I don't get the sense of humor of the rest of them--I think the imaging is great. Finally some well produced, fun imaging for an uptempo station.

I like the music, too. Focused, and I recognize the target audience. Plus, I like the music. I'm not the audience demographically, but I know it. This is working so far.

I think that a 3 share 12+ would be a bit dramatic for the time being. Think more like a 3.4 or 3.7 for starters. Rick Dees will be the driving force behind Movin' 93.9 and don't think for a moment that his loyal following has forgotten about his uncerimonious departure. Your Move.....

In the two years prior to his departure from KIIS, Dees was getting a high 2 share in 18+, and mid-3's in 12*. Since Movin' is a more targeted station, I think Dees will not get over a 3 in adults, and the rest of the day will be about the same. A 3.4 with a tight target is optimistic, and unlikely.

It will take Dees a while to rebuild, and it depends on whether they find a good Hispanic sidekick or partner for him.

American Idol is getting old. Seacrest is limited as to the entertainment and mass appeal without it. What Kiss was then is not what it will be....

"Depends on whether Movin' finds a good Hispanic? Please leave it as finding a new "Partner" and avoid the racist remarks.
