The New Movin' is SO Boring and stop calling it Dance

"Depends on whether Movin' finds a good Hispanic? Please leave it as finding a new "Partner" and avoid the racist remarks.

Isn't it all about race, these days? I hate to stick up for Dave, as he bears personal responsibility for creating a great deal of that unfortunate situation ...

But he is just calling the pot black (or hispanic, or however he has managed to slice and dice what used to be a common culture).

PS Hey Mr. Pilot, do you think you could indulge us all by putting your replies AFTER the quote, like everyone else?

My point was that Dees is looking for a partner. (period)
My posts are fine the way they are.

It is hardly my action, fault, idea or intitiative that Movin' might want an Hispanic to co-host or whatever on a format that is Hispanic driven. It would be odd were it not so.

Movin' might want a co-host. That would be the American thing to say. I would be happy to hear anyone that compliments the Dees.

I am sure Rick will try and surround himself with trustworthy radio professionals - regardless of ethnic origin. Rick got rather let down by some of those who were with him for so many years at KIIS and I'm sure he doesn't want a repeat of that.

As for a supposed need to have a Hispanic co-host, let's remember the highly sucessful John London & the House Party at KKBT. The Beat, a station that was/is majority listened to by a black audience, had at that time primarily a white morning show - the host, news guy and producer (and the Coach Charlie Wright) - all white. At various times, there were as few as one morning team member that was black, Shirley Strawberry. So what's the "need' to have a Hispanic co-host at Movin?

You don't need to "have" a specific person of some ethnicity to win and be embraced by a specific audience. Sticking a specific person of their ethnic origin is not how you "service" them...ask Art Laboe.

Saw the TV spot. The little dancing stick man looks like the VW service guy.

Not too sure about the tag line, though:

Hans was that just a mistake - 92.3?

Yup, typo, Movin' 92.9.

In the words of El Semipluperfecto, my bad.

I guess their tagline is more than I can handle so early in the day The music, of course, sounds like what I imagine a TJ strip bar would play.

Right, 93.9. Or is it 94.9? Since I got satellite radio, and since the radio industry gave up on men my age, I never listened to KZLA.

But I am curious about the inflammatory trimming. The tagline was a quote line from Davey about the station's target audience.

That was NOT a quote from me. I said the target was 25-44 second generation Hispanic women, and you changed the ages and made a derogatory statement that would seem to put in question the intelligence of the target.

Second error: Radio did not "give up" on 55+. Advertisers do not want 55+, so we provide no service to that group. We would love to have a new demo to serve. However, advertisers don´t want you. Again, for emphasis, radio did not give up on anyone. Advertisers chose to spend their money in other places.

Finally, you are the guy who thinks they identified a daytimer on 1070 from SLP that has NEVER even bee n DXed in the USA as creating daily interference on KNX, when the guilty station was a totally different one and took about 4 minutes to identify, so often does it ID as "la Norteña"... and yet you don't know the frequency of one of LA's full Class B signals? Of course, you are the guy who a day or two called KLNO a rimshot, so I guess allocations and FCC stuff is not your strong suit.

Wow, you got me there, Davey. No, I do not memorize FCC allocations for radio stations that bore me.

I guess that proves that everything you have ever said is right, right? Right.

PS I did not say you should move back to Mexico, no matter what you say.
