The "NEWS" Station?

oK.One to two days they did, but in comparision to KRLD, sorry no cigar or whatever you are smoking. In all "fairness' as you say, look over theose past posts as wel land you will see I was far from alonge in that criticism. Admit you work for WBAP and be nice ok?

KPLEX - you put in a previous post: As for the 2000 icestorm coverage by KRLD. Yeah unexcusable, HOWEVER things have changed for the better. For example the May-June storms, had extensive coverage on KRLD,while the "lets bash the demos" marathon was played on WBAP

Now you know this is not true. I can cite for example at least one day where WBAP blew out all three hours of Hannity (top basher of demos) to go live and local and take calls from listeners AND reporters in the field. And in fact....there was a previous posting on here about the weather...where you were caught by another poster admitting you didn't even LISTEN to WBAP that day....but took the time to rip them for their "poor coverage".

Your bias is showing my friend. Let's try and play "fair" as much as we can!!!

As far as I know, WBAP does not have an experienced weather reporter, who can match KRLD's Brad Barton. So until they can find and hire someone with the same expertice as Brad (and I'll bet the odds of that happening are slim to none), WBAP loses by default.

KPLEX - I only wish I could work for a big dog like a WBAP. Like many (I think) on here....I toil away at my tiny station....learning and listening. I just hate the dog pile......on ANY station.....music or news....without any real hard facts to back it up.

Think of me as a tiny superhero....looking out for radio :D

that's because after years of keeping MOST experienced TV weather people (most trained by Harold Taft) on as their weather people. they jumped to what has to be the worst group of weather forecasters Channel 8/WFAA (Troy Dungan "The tornado we are seeing has moved from Fort Worth and is touching down in Arlington as we speak" the tornado was still rolling down 7th street in Fort Worth)

Troy is one of the best. A real example of poor performance under pressure, is KK at Channel 11.

Let's go back to that day. There were 2 tornados. FTW and Arlington. Arlington's was the larger of the two according to the NWS. Watching Ch.5 that day they had a live camera on downtown FTW..and you could see whirling debris and transformers( no plug for the movie)exploding. The sure signs of a tornado,BUT it took Dave Finfrock a few more minutes to utter the words a tornado was in FTW. Troy,David, others were scrambling based on weather watcher reports,NWS info. ,etc Some weather watchers in the heat of the moment gave wrong information claiming the Arlington Tornado was the same as FTW's. Thats where Troy got his info. Dave waited for the NWS to declare FTW had a tornado, though the video clearly showed one. It was a hectic day for all TV and radio folks working on the air, etc, and with a tidal wave of info coming in,it was difficult at times to descern facts.
