The Next What's Next

The 99.1 application to move their stick from Lenoir City to Maryville and the 99.3 signal being reduced and moving from New Market to Jeff. City sure don't sound like it has anything to do with 98.7. Especially since no facility change has been submitted 98.7 or even mentioned on-air.

Simply seems that 99.1 is getting better Knoxville coverage w/o having to rely on 99.3. Now, I guess, it could be that they dump the Sports Ferret on 99.1 and simulcast NewsTalk on 98.7/99.1.

I was told that this move will eventually allow them to somehow tinker with 98.7 in the near future to improve its reach. I don't know how, I know zero about the tech side. The move will make 99.1 better in Knoxville, which is all I need to know.

Moving 99.1 from L.C. to Maryville does move it away from 98.7's current tower east of Clinton. People complain about 98.7's signal, but it sure seems fine anywhere I've been in Knox County and beyond. Guess it's worth moving all the chess pieces around to improve 98.7 into the majority of the population.
