The other side of the River

I just spotted that on FB this morning. Wonder if they're going to try to get into the translator game...maybe fill the alternative gap left by Dave and 99x.......hmmmmm.

Even if on a translator, as long as the signal is decent in Atlanta Metro and north, I'd be OK with it. I am enjoying EAVR, but it would be nice to be able to just turn on my FM radio in the car and listen without having to deal with my phone, signal drops, data usage and etc..

Does Cox even own any translators in ATL? Not to say that they couldn't pick one up.

Or they could use 103.7...kinda sorta.

I just tossed that out there....i.figured someone has some knowledge on who has.what and so forth. Would be a nice addition to the airwaves.

Man.. oh Man... I have HD and I sometimes listen to 97.1 FM HD2. It was called "The River's Edge" and the format was similar to the Rock 100.5's new format the the HD2 of 96.1 FM "The Project". I wandered why we could have 3 active rock stations/HD2 stations in Atlanta but not an alternative station. Last night I was listening to 97-1 HD2 and now they are referring to themselves as "The Other Side of the River". Steve was doing the station identification. It is awesome. I heard Iggy Popp, 311, Monsters and Men, Vampire Weekend. It is AWESOME!!! I just hope they last and stay on the air. I also hope they snatch up a translator so that people without HD radio can get them. The station is pretty strong so I am happy once again with Atlanta radio. :)

You mean Tune In Radio App on your iphone and Andorid? I do know 97.1 The River is on iheartradio and Tune In Radio App. Also EAVradio is also on Tune In Radio App. You mean want to send an e-mail to 97.1 The River to let them know if u like to have The Other Side of The River 97.1 HD2 on Tune In Radio.

It's simple...log onto the link in the prior page about "The Other Side" and copy the "Listen on your iPhone" into the Custom Stream tab on your TuneIn radio app.
Is there a similar way to listen to WSB-FM-HD2? I can't find a similar link for it.

Actually, the station usually doesn't have to submit changes to TuneIn. So, if you want 97.1 The River's HD2 channel, you can probably submit it yourself. If it has a directory entry, all you have to do is click "Report a Problem" and provide the link.

Doesn't work for the Android version of TuneIn.

You can also listen with itunes. It's a PLS file which iTunes uses for streaming music so you can go that route as well. I'm not sure how they decided that the one link was for android because it just goes to a web page running a Flex app so it's no different than if I was on my computer at work or at home. Hopefully they'll get it straightened out soon, though Android seems to always be the secondary thought to iOS.

Interesting: if you open up the PLS file in iTunes, it's displayed as WBTSFM_SC and http://955thebeat.com.

On another note, I like it so far.

I've heard a mix of 90's alternative (Jane's Addiction, DMB), newer alt (Grouplove), new music and classic "1st Wave" style (Roxy Music).

I think it's pretty solid.

From 10:15 - 10:45
"Rockafella Skank" - Fatboy Slim (90's)
"I'm Shaken'" Jack White
"Mockingbird Girl" - Scott Wieland
"China Girl" - David Bowie
"Ain't Messin Around" - Gary Clark Jr. (had to look it up...unfortunately, tracks aren't displayed in the player :/)
"I Predict a Riot" - Kaiser Chiefs
"I'm The Man" - Joe Jackson (this one floored me..maybe heard it once or twice on the retroplex..sirius has it in regular rotation on 1st Wave)
"Big Me" - Foo Fighters
"I'm never changing who I am" - Imagine Dragons
"Strange Love" - Depeche Mode

Good to know that it'll be in iHeart soon. I figured as much, it was just a question of when.

I think the route they're going is a good one. Play with the format, let Steve program it. Maybe take a good hard look at the number of hits and determine if it's worth the effort to take it back to FM even if by translator. But I think, in the meantime, it's wisest to push streaming presence considering the target audience is likely to be more tech savvy.

Next Cox needs to work on putting WSB-FM-HD2 on iHeartTuneIn.
