JFK was shot at roughly 1pm Central time...

12:30 CT. Cronkite's first interrupt of ATWT was 10 min. later, at 1:40 ET/12:40 CT.

The UK networks broke the news at around 7pm UK time, which would have been 8pm in Italy, 2pm in NY and 1pm Central. I'm *guessing* that RAI would have broke the news around the same time. But this link confirms there were no pictures of Cronkite or anything else until the next day.

I saw a Cronkite interview where he stated part of the delay was they did not have a TV camera "warmed up". They were tube back then. After that CBS News always had a camera "warmed up". Not necessary now with solid state equipment. I was in school when it happened. I remember my teacher crying and school letting out early.

When I was at the old WDBL (early 1970's) having to "warm up" the filaments on the old Collins 1 KW AM tube transmitter. We were supposed to let it warm up for 20 minutes before your turned on the plate. The old RCA FM transmitter only needed a couple of minutes.

PTBoardOp94 might be thinking of the time that the doctors at Parkland pronounced Kennedy dead, which was 1:00p CT.

And they completely ignored Kennedy last week. They did mention him at least several times last night.

I still think they should have devoted an episode to his death.

I have seen at least two 1965 Lincolns. I know most people don't really pay close attention to such things, but please try to get it right.
