Wiki now says that WNYZ will flip to public radio programming from NJN (New Jersey Network). I don't really believe that's happening though...

New York! You're getting a New Jersey Network station!

NJN is mostly NPR programming with a few New Jersey-centric newscasts. 93.9 is an NPR affiliate already. Why would they want to put another NPR station on a poor frequency like 87.7?
Also, WNJB 58 is moving from New Brunswick to the Empire State Building or 4 Times Square, which takes care of the NJN TV affiliation. I don't believe NJN is coming to Channel 6/87.7. The simulcast of the religious station is most likely. But I can't say anything is certain.

Guess we'll find out on February 1. The Wikipedia said that the religious station is coming to 87.7 the day that Party went off 87.7. The day that Pulse 87 went bankrupt, Wikipedia said that Party 87 is coming, and that was true.

The adult standards now on 87.7 is unique, and would be a nice underserved format, although it's probably the least appealing to advertisers.

Wikipedia said there was a rumor Pulse 87 is coming back. That hopefully was a true rumor.

Now the Wiki for 87.7 says they will air a country format starting Monday.

WNJB is NOT moving their transmitter. They withdrew that request late last year.

That's correct. Actually, WNJB just entered into an agreement with WABC-TV, and two stations out in PA where they are all going to power up their TV signals while remaining at their current locations. As a matter of fact, WABC-TV is going to foot the bill for NJN's new equipment at the existing Warren, NJ site.

Personally, I think NJN should have told ABC to shove it after they blocked NJN's application to move to 4TS. But that's another story.

What type of music are they playing now?
Adult standards. I think the reason for that is because the music is old enough to be out of copyright, and Island doesn't want to pay royalties for the interim format between Party and the religious format or whatever will be coming to 87.7 on February 1.
