The proper pronounciation is "Ta-RENT-um"

dB - I believe it was the gentleman before Jim Colony, I think his last name was something like Lucky, but after giving the audience his bio on all of the things he doesn't like, pay that much attention or just doesn't know I shut it off. I have caught pieces of Giannotti and Mueller and what little I have heard (I haven't sat through an entire show, just sampled some before going to bed) I found both to be better than I expected and had a better response from listeners that I would have guessed for their first week.

The other thing you need to remember as far as callers driving a station is that only 10% of the listeners ever call the station. They rarely reflect what the majority of the listeners are thinking. If you cater exclusively to what that 10% wants ventually they will be your only listeners.

Quite right. Probably even less than 10% on non-interactive (ie. music) stations, especially now that young listeners have
moved on to iPods, file-sharing, Pandora, etc. Cume audience still exists, but, time-spent-listening has drastically dropped.

Like the KQV Phone Poll, the request/call-in line is not scientific, just the opinions of those who choose to call. Making any
decisions on that basis (other than perhaps the "Top 8 at 8" countdowns of old) is to cater to a tiny niche of the audience.

Furthermore, if you have a station that is not highly-rated, essentially you are making a decision on 10% of very little. Big
mistake for any station that wants a mass audience.
