The "Q" Isn't for You...Any Longer???

Was listening to 92.1 this afternoon and the liners have completely changed and they are now saying they are "BEATLES RADIO" ???

What's up with that???

I'm sure it's a stunt before the changeover to a new format.

The real question is what new format they switch to. Let the smooth jazz rumors begin, I guess.

Does anyone know if Keith & Kerry were on this morning or if they dumped everything (and everyone?) overnight?

I heard k&k on my way to work this morning, they must have made the switch after morning drive.

Rev #9...WOW I heard that earlier today just before noon. Even when they are stunting they can't help playing the same s&*t over and over.

In all fairness, how many Beatles songs actually are there?

There Were I Believe 13 Albums Released In The UK By The Beatles. Capitol Records In The US Would Leave

Some Tracks Off Of The UK releases When They Released Them Here, Then Put Together Albums Made Up Of

The Lifted Tracks. Such Albums Were "The Beatles Second Album" And "Yesterday And Today"

An All Beatle Format Can Only Really Work If You Also Include The Solo Work From The Four Members.

You Could Also Include Cover Versions Of Their Songs By Other Artists As Well Such As "Help From My Friends

"By Joe Cocker.

But I Imagine This Is Just A Stunt ... We Shall See.

Reviewing the list of available choices:

1.) Oldies 92 & 100 Reborn - (With GEM 107.7's upgrades & sounding fairly well, and with nuisance frequency 590 WARM, would Shamrock even bother with Oldies?)

2.) Obviously the Q is gone, so it won't be 80's, 90's and NOW.

3.) With 69 Trillion AC stations already this market, AC is doubtful.

4.) The FCC won't allow Shamrock to simulcast ROCK107 on 92/100, (otherwise, all bets would be off).

5.) What's left to choose from??? I have a sneaking suspicion hunch Shamrock will attempt an EZ 103ish format.

Before YESTERDAY, I WANT TO TELL YOU, radio was uninspired. Now with the new Q, it's GETTING BETTER. THIS BOY can now say I FEEL FINE.
So LET IT BE, for TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS...

Whatever format ends up there it will be most likely be completely jockless and run through the Scott System.
Otherwise, why blow out the only two people on your airstaff???
I don't know Kerry, but why is this always happening to Keith?????

there are just too many Hot AC stations in the area... and the Q didn't exactly have the budget to compete with them. You could really consider them a drainer station in the same way the Mountain saps ratings from 107, etc...

this Beatles thing is most likely temporary. considering most people I talk to say "I haven't really paid attention to that station since after it was an oldies station", maybe that's the best format to go to. Or, maybe it will become an all Hispanic station... and to steal a phrase from my buddy, turn it from the Q to the Que.

Did I miss something? Too many Hot Ac's in this market? Can you name 1?

Magic-Rock AC or some other hybrid
Light 94-3-Light AC or some other hybrid
River-Classic hits or some other hybrid

The closest to a hot AC is T-102

and they're not even in THIS market.

hmmm new format on 92-1 and 100-1 are they hiring? ;)

(p.s. good luck Keith!)

Y106.5 is considered Hot AC and can be reached in most of the area, though I don't know if they are technically considered part of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

My opinion is the Q will become either Oldie's again, or as someone else noted another easy listening station. EZ 103 seemed to be making some inroads in the area (considering the weak coverage area) before Entercom pulled the plug to have yet another simulcast of WILK (I'll save my complaints for that one for another day). Other than that, there is really nothing else I can think of (other than smooth jazz of course ;)).

I cannot imagine all Beatles being anything other than a stunt. As popular as they are, you cannot base a station purely on one group. It would get incredibly repetitious in short order.

This may be the Big Jump to etnic music. with the incredible success of claiente 1440. they may be going etnic. How about the p as in polka is for me.
All polka all the time. Now its time for a doubble ring tursday, wit stanky.
It could happen tomorrow

Or ..............
It could be indulge me here dear reader...........................
Z rock...........................
Hey it was this close the last time
and now..... the market is ready for it
