THE RETURN OF SYBIL SUMMERS

I don't remember anyone saying that 5515 works at KLLI, although it has been suggested that I work at the station.

Hopefully your not confusing the two of us 80squeen.

I liked Sybil with P & K but there's no way I'm putting up with Ben, Skin and Eric to hear her. They must have gotten an advance peek at B & S's ratings then brought her in. When Sybil left, she posted on her Myspace that she wanted more for her career than what she was on the P & K show. So she comes back...to play the same role on another low profile show? I don't think so. She needed a job and the station needs all the help it can get.

. However, it doesn't seem illogical to add a popular female talent to an all male midday show that is in it's first weeks of incarnation. There's another one of those opinion things that we all have. :)
Doesn't seem illogical? Is that like a double negative?

Because to me it doesn't make sense to add a third voice to a show where listeners have barely had time to get used to the first 2 voices. They've only been on what, a couple of months? And they're already adding a third bananna?

I understand adding another 'character', but most sitcoms, for example, waited until ratings were falling before they added the hot chick or the cute kid. Other radio talk shows waited until a show might have grown stale (Norm Hitzges on KLIF, Hardline with R&W) before they added a Leon Simon or a 'yuk monkey".

I think one of 2 things is happening- either Ben and Skin have figured out how hard it is to fill 20 hours a week with interesting talk, and they're desperately looking for someone to help carry the load, or that the latest trends and PPM have shown how little effect B&S are having against Bad Radio and Rush Limbaugh and Gavin et al are desperately trying to add ANYTHING to draw people in...

Either way it reeks of desperation, and that's never good...

Pulled from Ms. Summers bio on her website -

I produce The Ben & Skin Show and do the news on Live 105.3 in Dallas

If she's producing, what is Eric doing?

Oh, Ben & Skin's first broadcast was on 8/25/08. They just hit their three month mark.

she posted on her Myspace that she wanted more for her career than what she was on the P & K show

Did you notice the interesting way she ended that post ("up yours P & K")? I never listened to P&K much, so I don't know if that was a joke or not.

Pretty much sums it up, although I doubt she would have been added to the show if management was happy with the early ratings.

Ya know, If Sybil was smart, she'd find her a good man with some cash to take care of her. She wont have her looks forever ;)

Now all they need to do is get rid of Eric. His grunting bit is getting old fast, plus he's turning into Russ Martin's "Clo" with all that damn unnecessary laughing.

It's a joke. When Sybil started doing news on the P&K show they were at a loss as to how she should acknowledge the toss. Eventually they settled on "Up yours, P&K." It was a running gag for the rest of her time on the show.

Damn....that's a good point.

I hope Ben and Skin are getting good ratings, I really like the show.

And you would be wrong. When she left the sink hole that was P&K she was not even on air anymore. They had taken away the news, they had given the prizes to Sam and she had been relegated to answering phones so no she is not on Ben & Skin in the same role she had when she left P&K. She was very happy to leave their stinkfest because yes she wanted more for herself than being a call screener. She likes the field so it was no surprise she found her way back, though she never really left. She did not "need" the job though. Way off base.

They had to cut the news...the friggin' station cut P & K's show to 2 1/2 hours to make room for 2 morning shows when they added Jagger. That's when the show was ruined cause they filled up the show with so many commercials, there wasn't any time for any kind of content. When O & A were cut, P & K got their full 4 hours back. Unfortunately, Sybil was gone by then. I really don't think P & K can be blamed for that.

Actually lilly, they can. P&Ks paid advertisement was always low on original content and high on live spots, hence why people got tired of the show...

You lost me here, Slambang. I've never worked in radio so I don't know the biz, but aren't any commercials. live or taped, an annoyance to the listener? My issue with the P&K show was the amount of commercials, not whether they were live spots or not.

Besides, aren't the number of commercials in any given hour a business decision of the station, not the hosts?

Albert, very true. Im in agreement that the show took on the apperance of one giant informercial. Most of that can be blamed on managment and sales who rather push their best advertisers ahead of a program, which P&K seem to gladly take on and sacrificed their little talent they had for the ad revenue. Im curious if their old contract gave them a cut of that...

Oh, come on! Seriously? You could sense they were gladly taking on more and more ad time? If so, then you, my friend, have a real gift that you are wasting divining the inner workings of radio shows.
