Did you see on Allaccess yesterday that the Eggman was spotted at the Charlotte-Douglas Airport recently? Egg was quoted as saying that several companies are interested in his services.

Ahh, let the bidding war begin!
 
Davidson County Airport can't handle a jet the size of the one he came in on.

Not that I'm sayin...but then, you know it's a possibility.

Oh, go ahead and say what you mean, because I'm clueless about your meaning. And, who the heck is the Egg Man? What kind of format does he match with?
 
Doesn't K-104.7 have a morning position open?
From what I've heard there is no Majic in the salaries in Davidson County.
 
Do you think the Eggmans' personality is a fit for K1047, or is K1047s' format fitting for the Eggman?

It seems all their format is is "that was that song & here is this song on K1047".

At least Lite102.9 uses some ad-lib.

I don't know if I'd give Lite that much credit on the ad-libbing. Phil Harris on Lite is probably the worst (most boring) in the market. No ad lib and no enthusiasm. Here's artist on Lite 102.9 and Lite 102.9 with artist. They need some serious help in middays.

I've met Phil, he's a bright guy and I'd bet he's doing it exactly the way they want him to do it. In A/C we have been told for years that listeners are only interested in the music. When they do resarch they come back and say the focus groups say jocks talk too much. Do you really think it's our idea to deliver those "less talk" liners? BARF!

After awhile you give up and say well if that's the way management wants it that's what I'll give 'em. :mad: Don't ever get the idea we don't want to come up with interesting/informative quick topics to keep things interesting. Most of us live to do that.

Phil is not a friend of mine, I only met him once or twice. You guys have no idea what we go through!

Mike is right (of course you are Mike, we work together!!) I choke back a little vomit each time I open the mic and have to say 3 words and then turn the mic off. Then I spit, open the mic and do it again. I can't even say a blurb about American Idol or the beautiful weekend. LISTENERS need to speak up...they do NOT listen to the jocks. We hate being robots.

I have never met Phil but I agree that he is just going by the boss' rules.

K's mornings are taken care of and we couldn't afford Eggman....although he would be an excellent choice. I never met him, but I admire his work on Magic and remember his story about adopting his little girl. In addition, Eggman likes to banter on the air (you know, like jocks ARE SUPPOSED TO) and K would never allow that.

In the meantime, we will still kick Lite's caboose even if we we do sound moronic.
 
Holly, there is a certain afternoon guy who can't even open his mic when there is a traffic report. He gets to talk twice an hour! Imagine how HE feels!

I wonder if "Jack" does A/C? ;D
 
1. OldRadioDude40, agreed on Phil being the most boring on Lite102.9. but still better than anybody on K1047.

3. Mike (that was that, this is this on K1047) - I know exactly what you're going through, because I'm going through it myself.

4. Holly & Mike, you'd better be careful what you say on this board, because your mgmt. might read it.

5. Holly, K1047 might beat Lite102.9 once in awhile in the ratings by a point or so, but by no means are they "kicking their caboose". Never did, never will. It's up & down. Lite has more music & personality variety.

1 We can agree to disagree on this. Phil has a good voice and has done VT's from Charlotte for some of the other CC stations, so he must be doing it the way they want him to. Since you haven't heard us out of the confines of the format I'd say it's a tough call. As a matter of fact most of us on K have worked at Lite. :p

2 Good yes, rules no.

3 Thanks but I added up my total time on air each hour and it's around 90 seconds per hour. How long can you talk?

4 Aware don't care. Not giving away anything confidential, not saying anything that isn't true. Oh and I'm just part-time.

5 Never say never. Lite has an image problem. People think of Lite as the station their parents would listen to (and these are 45 year olds saying this), even though the stations almost match song for song. We are their younger sounding, hipper worst nightmare in terms of positioning. Both stations watch each other closely. K went all Christmas one afternoon at 3pm and Lite scrambled to start at 3:40pm.

Management DOES read the postings and Mike is right...we don't say anything that is confidential and trust me we could...but we are not that stupid. Furthermore....what I post on here is nothing I have not said to my "management" in person. We have a very close-knit staff and I have worked there many years. When people get on this board and post things that are clearly wrong and in some cases ignorant, we just want to set em straight.

I am not going to get in to a ratings pissin constest with anyone. I have worked for both stations, as has Mike, and I am still friends with all the CC folks...I was just there 2 weeks ago talking with Samantha Stone. Radio is a small family indeed and you never know who will be your boss in the future. I am content at K and have been since 99 but it is no secret that I wish we could loosen the reins a bit.

Why is it that every time I hear someone say Denver in a Charlotte context, I always think of the legal ID they used on The End a couple of times "WEND Charlotte-Dallas-Denver-Cleveland." Still cracks me up too. ;)

So were you in the airport here or not? If you are currently in Colorado...I am thinking someone was mistaken!!! Maybe you were here for Easter?
 
Oh, no, I was in the airport all right. It's certainly grown since I left Charlotte. Flew in and out for an interview...somewhere!
