The River Runs Dry....

What genius at CC didn't figure out the obvious; put it back where it belonged and put the "talk" on 100.7

Both those stations have carved out a decent audience (cume). I don't think the frequency the station is on makes much difference, once the pre-set is set, people don't care about dial position.

I think CC made a pretty good move this time.

Dear Clear Channel.....

...THANK YOU!

.....and 8 stoners in Fuquay who still think its 1989 (More OZZZZZZIEEEEEEEE!!!!!!). Lets hope their parents don't mind them cranking up the new RDU in their basement.

Drinks are on us at the Bear's Den underground at Cameron Village. Oh wait....that closed in 1984.

Yawn. More recycled programming that, at best, will steal a small market from 96.1. But I suppose it gives men in their 50s (I am one) a reminder of the good old days.

;D ;D ;D ;D Thank you Gave It Up......couldn't have put it better. And Surfie....I still have my WRDU 106 sweatshirt....it doesn't say 100.7. I also have an OLDIES 100.7 T-shirt. Enough said. ::) ::) ::) ::)

Having the RDU calls while playing the same stuff we've heard a trillion times with no personality and the attitude(laugh) liners..Yawn.... I know its only day one but if this is what is...Big deal...Just another format flip done with barely a wimper..I think I'll go watch paint dry..."We're Men and We're WRDU"....I'm happy for you on both accounts..Yawn...

The new RDU - same as the old (10 yrs ago) RDU. There is an audience for this music and with improved imaging they should do OK. The River's image was blurred.

The Fox in Charlotte does very well with this format. They do need a decent morning show. A talented guy who knows local sports and has the right "attitude" would probably work well.

While I appreciate the John Boy and Billy show, it's probably strike three on those guys (not their fault). They've been on Classic Rock, Oldies, and Country in the market!

Isn't that exactly what 96 Rock did and sank? The difference here is that Raleigh just isn't a hard rock town. Maybe Clear Channel can make it work for what they need, since RDU is only supposed to take numbers away from BBB, not be a star itself.

"YES SIR!!! With The original voice of 96rock. Does the legacy of RDU continue at 22 years or does it have to start over. They did say the best f--king Rockstation on the planet the legendary WRDU. So I guess it kinda continues at 22 years."
Did they actually say the f-word on the air or was there a bleep?

??? ??? ??? ??? So....let's see. WRDU is back...yeah, but NOT where it belongs. To those that hoped it would return to 106.1-HAHAHA! What genius at CC didn't figure out the obvious; put it back where it belonged and put the "talk" on 100.7. But then, that's too simple for the simple to comprehend. And how many acne-faced, young males are gonna like 20-30 yr. old rock cuts. Sorry; most I know want the Hip and the Hop. Oh....and if the OLD 'RDU is back, how about putting the old Kitty back on....and maybe Brian McFadden? What is Tom Guild doing nowadays? Where's Daniel, Gongaware....oh and yes.....THE BLADE? Put people on the air who were there....who totally understand the old 'RDU, not someone in their 20's or 30s who wasn't born or in diapers. It's like listening to jocks on 102.9 talking about the Beatles....or reading it off the internet, but weren't there to "EXPERIENCE" Beatle-Mania. But I don't want to seem too negative. After the novelty of the "old-new" WRDU wears off.....we'll see what the balloon-heads at CC come up with next to preserve a dying medium. But that's just my opinion.....and wtf do I know!

They had better get the Geritol concession in place first. All of the original team has moved on. I don't believe you can re-live the past forever. Reality is change and change is reality...

JimofNYC - @ WRDU at the beginning...

Its very hard to recreate the past..All I was hoping for was something a little different with maybe a pinch or two of the old WRDU..What I hear is the same old tired VT's retread music with almost no one to one relationship with a listener..Obnoxious liners add nothing but obnoxious liners to a radio station. Another CC missed opportunity to connect or reconnect with a a large audience that longs for a station to call their own again..Maybe it will get better... I hope so but I seriously doubt it I need to do some math to see who has wrecked more stations over the past few years Willis or CC..Its a close race..

Lets not forget Dick Broadcasting out of Greensboro, and Blueberry Broadcasting in Maine. Blueberry Broadcasting makes Curtis Media Group look like Entercom. I am originally from Maine, living down here in Raleigh, I have kept up with Northern New England Radio. That is pretty disturbing in its own.

I had a good experience with Curtis 2002-2005..I worked with good people and was treated fairly..Of course there is nobody left in Goldsboro from my time there..Alot of good radio people & good people in general got the boot after I left...Boy that's a another topic entirely..Tony Denton, Kari Delacruz, Jerry Allen,Deebea Rowe,Bryan Rouse, Walt Rabon,Wayne Alley,Larry Fann,Del Combs, Vassie Balcum & many others made it a fun place to be.... Lots of good radio people and good management at that time.. I'm lucky now to work with some great folks at Beasley..Radio is still as much fun for me today as it was the first day I started..I consider myself very forunate..
