Any thoughts on this ABC comedy, which debuts tonight (September 28th, 2011)?

But to have one as the early episode in a new season can set the stage for disaster.
Lkeller said:For a half-hour sitcom, producing an hour long episode is a big risk. Yes - the writing and characters on The Middle are funny in small doses - but an hour was too much 'Heck' for me
landtuna said:WAAAAY over the top and completely unrealistic. Daughter's girlfriend's mother is the most obnoxious actress on TV so far this season.
Don't the network suits watch these shows before putting them on the air? In what universe is this one funny? It is supposed to be a comedy after all.
One more new offering scratched off my list.
Newton Minnow continues to roll over in his grave.
Lkeller said:"Different Strokes for Different Folks," and all that. It's a sit-com - who said it had to be "realistic?" And a certain kind of comedy is "way over the top," which doesn't make it any less funny. Neither I Love Lucy or Andy Griffith were anywhere close to realistic.
Lkeller said:The major odd note is Jeremy Sisto in a comedy.
Not hardly.gregg75 said:I thought it was decent and similar to THE MIDDLE, which I also enjoy.
I feel the opposite.landtuna said:I'm guessing the lead-in worked well for Suburgatory although The Middle is not sustaining the humor of previous seasons. It's not off my list yet but another episode having Sue running the aisles of her high school repeatedly is certain to do it.
