I'm east and 104.1 comes in handy at night, 1310 barely makes it since they null in my direction and 1700 was just far enough away for the groundwave and skywave to cancel the signal. I've heard the 1700 in Minnesota at night, loud and clear.
I honestly think the AM sounds much better, but I'm judging this on my car radio since that's where I do 99% of my Ticketing.
