The Todd Show Gets New Co-Host

You sure take this stuff seriously.

Chan

hey, when you grow up with a show, and it tends to be the one bright, stable/always there spot after 23 years, as in comfort food, you tend to get invested in it ;o). I know i'm not the only one on here who feels the same way about the rumored backstabbing ;o)..

"Scott Shannon" was 76 -an old sounding 76 and still doing Hot AC -a format with a desired age median around 40 years younger. If the station had flipped to an 80's based Classic Hits Shannon might still have had some credibility.
I don't listen to much commercial radio, but I have tuned-in CBS-f recently and while he sounds more alive than Don Imus -that isn't saying much. He is a better fit at CBS, still, I can't see him there at 80.

Chan

Scott is 67, not 76.

So Jayde is in, and magically Fitz has "exited the station"...so we know where the extra budget was allocated from.

I know a person who was actually offered the gig that Fitz ultimately wound up with (and has now lost). This was before the announcement that Scott was leaving. That person just felt something was "off" there and turned down the gig. Two weeks later, Scott left, and we know the rest of the story. And now that gig seems to have evaporated as well.

i found that odd myself. You never even heard Fitz on air for the two months I listened... why even bother building him up at all? then he's gone after a year? Not his fault the show sucked..but guess they have to fire someone to hire a co host salary...

can't remember if I posted this, but I heard a little bit of the todd shows final show...I still have one pc recording PLJ just in case for 'monumental' moments or 'controversial ones...'

Just like their summer blast off....it was basically one big concert. what's left of the DJs where hardly on...so why even have DJs at all?
Bobby Lynch was off key and sounded out of synch.... American Authors was OK, but they all did songs I never heard of...
The 6/13 guys where ok...

But like all things todd show, it's just kind of....there. you could put anyone in the hosting gig and it wouldn't have that special flare.
It'll be very interesting to see how january 5th sounds...

That means the loser here is her former station where she worked at in Tampa, HOT 101.5, which will do bad or good with no morning show... IDK. They also may get a new morning DJ.

I have a feeling you're correct. The only question is will the NYC audience accept a strong female morning host. I think they will.

Yep, I agree....and if WPLJ's past history is any indication, it'll be after a major holiday break, so my prediction is come around June, Todd and Monk at least will be gone. Maybe it'll be Jayde as the lead and Annie as the co host for the first duo women team in mornings..

My guess is Todd won't be able to keep up the 'I give a ****' mode after loosing his second show in ten years, and quietly walk away..

This PLJ demises was easy to see....

When Scott and Todd worked together, it was apparent that Todd could not carry a show by himself. He's a supporting act. Period. He comes across as arrogant and not very like-able. This is no surprise. The surprise is the radio insiders/experts thought he could carry a show by himself. Meatballs was horrible. That experiment should have lasted a week. Cooper was marginalized by Annie so this is no shock at all. And now that there is a new co-host, if I were Annie, I'd be looking......

Not that I care what happens to Todd anymore, but it'll be interesting to see how they handle it. Will they introduce her like it's her first show, or will they just go on like she's been there for years?

either way, taking bets now onto how long this version will last.

Jayde's a top-notch talent and has been successful in both Tampa and Orlando. On her recent Tampa show, she was definitely "first fiddle." She has the personality, social media presence, and beauty around which to build a brand.

because we all know that now, even in radio, you can't build a brand around old ugly people ;o)

but that just further confirms they are going to give her a few months to settle in in a big market, and then can the rest of the old team, either by choice or decision.

spied on PLJ this morning because scott still wasn't back from break yet.

I HATE giving PLJ compliments, but the show DID sound a little better this morning. LOTS LESS phony laughter. Monk's role is reduced majorly and he's back to being background noise. Annie doesn't talk as much which is good, because she was either too timid and didn't talk at all, or spoke way too much stepping over people when she did.

I think Todd and Jayde will jell together a bit better than him and annie, but Todd did NOT sound happy or all that into it. his 'we are glad to have you here' couldn't have sounded more insincere.

The other thing I didn't like was this jayde lady bringing up race. she did it twice. once mentioning todd as a random white guy and then her saying she was a '50 year old black guy with soul'. don't know if she's noticed, but there is a bit of racial tension in the city right now....just came off as weird.

anyway, CBS is my station, so I just tuned in for today out of curiosity. I still predict todd is not long for the NY radio market and will either quit this year or be asked to leave.

I give her 9 months..that's about how long most new radio on air talent last in NYC. She may go to local TV. Probably why she took this gig..

Did you mean GEL? I thnk calling her "this Jayde lady" is a good sign that you are not the demo. Pretty sure calling Todd a white guy (which he is) and Jayde describing her inner musical persona as a 50 year old black man (Which was said as a positive thing) is not why demonstrators are closing down tunnels. Really reaching at that point. Tat is how people who DON'T have an issue with race talk.

Based on what? She has been doing radio morning shows for a decade. Doing TV in addition is a possibility for for most people. Jayde should be there longer than Todd

whoops, Gel it is meant...damn head cold.

a stretch indeed..... and the way they did it might not have been bad...but I never cared for even lite attempts at race jokes myself. even when you are poking fun at yourself.

UH oh Jayde Donovan.......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDND

On January 12, 2007, a listener named Jennifer Strange, 28, died of water intoxication hours after taking part in the "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest in which KDND promised a Wii video game system for the winner. At the time, the Nintendo console was a very popular and sought-after item, but was nearly impossible to find in stores in North America.[3][4] In the competition, contestants were asked to drink as much water as they could without urinating. The contestant able to hold the most water would be named the winner.

As of 2013, Cox is working as a radio DJ at B98 in Wichita, Kansas,[19] Maney is working as a radio DJ at WNKS in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sweet works under the name Jayde Donovan at Hot 101.5 in Tampa Bay.
