The Todd Show Gets New Co-Host

UH oh Jayde Donovan.......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KDND

On January 12, 2007, a listener named Jennifer Strange, 28, died of water intoxication hours after taking part in the "Hold Your Wee for a Wii" contest in which KDND promised a Wii video game system for the winner. At the time, the Nintendo console was a very popular and sought-after item, but was nearly impossible to find in stores in North America.[3][4] In the competition, contestants were asked to drink as much water as they could without urinating. The contestant able to hold the most water would be named the winner.

As of 2013, Cox is working as a radio DJ at B98 in Wichita, Kansas,[19] Maney is working as a radio DJ at WNKS in Charlotte, North Carolina, and Sweet works under the name Jayde Donovan at Hot 101.5 in Tampa Bay.

yep, found out again sometime around early December. I think WPLJ even reported it on the scott and todd show when it happened because it sounds familiar.
Sounds like the kind of person WPLJ would hire to work with Todd...

that was the speculation. especially if a lady is in charge of hiring new people like I think they quoted in the press release. Can't remember who it was, but they where really boning her up like she was the next big thing for NY.
It'd be funny if in another 6 months, after the Memorial day show, Todd is gone, monk is gone, and whoever else is left, and it'll just be jayde in the morning. Maybe in 2016 even jade will be gone and they'll just be all music like lite.

I think Jade is using radio in NYC as a vehicle to get into TV in NYC. I prefer to listen to a morning show with a good host I like..guests shouldn't matter really.. Like with O and A I listened for Anthony..now its Jimmy.. I haven't heard PLJ with the new Jayde.. I just don't get into the celebrity worship shows like PLJ ..and everyone in the supportive staff sounds like they were recruited at a shopping mall and programming said to them " hey wanna be on the radio...jump in the car "..
I recently tuned into Danny Bonaduce on the the internet...he's in Seattle with a female partner..forgot her name.. I like Danny as a host. He's very funny, has many interesting past and present stories to tell.. At night I've been listening to WLS FM 8 to 11p with the legendary John Records Landecker.. not bad...he's still the same..funny ..but quick 10 sec shots of humor mostly.. God love him..he was my first DJ i loved in '72 when I was 15... And I became a DJ at 22..

IF he wanted to leave radio, he should have just quit, rather than ruining scotts career.

He didn't ruin Scott's career.. Scott landed on his own two feet at CBS..even if he had retired..Scott's sittin pretty.. I couldn't believe some of the song parodies Todd has done.. I heard on O and A Jocktobers on you tube. One was 6 min long..wholly cow.. My bits I used to write were only 2:30 or less.. the guy I wrote for said I could go 3 min if it was really funny.. I couldn't sing so I just rapped..mostly.. Todd is just too wordy in his songs... you don't need to fit the song word for word.. has he ever thought of editing to fit what he wants to say...???????? Paul Barsky was the best at it.. and he's not even on the air now.. There's no justice in radio.

true. The best thing that ever happened to scott was to get muscled out by Todd. I meant ruin his career at PLJ. although to be fair, I guess even without todd, he probably wouldn't have lasted long with the cumulus bottom feeders in charge.

Also, I didn't write that middle paragraph you quoted...but today I decided to look up and see if Opie and Jim are still ragging on todd, and thankfully they are. they brought up the things I noticed, like how Todd seems dejected. But they missed the best 'dejected' sounding part. in the first break or so, todd's talking about how their key's still worked in the building, and he's so defeated sounding he can barely get the words out! How could opie and jim skip over that part? LOL..

Common knowledge. I'm sure Cumulus knew long before they even hired her.

So, I decided to spy on them this week just to hear a dejected sounding todd.... sadly, we only got that on show one and from there he seemed to lighten up a bit more. But it's clear that the girls are starting to take over and todd is just sitting back and watching.

but, it's also clear why the todd show was so annoying. All those young people where NOT ready for a NY market. Meatballs was the worst. no radio voice, super loud....and bad reporting, but annie wasn't much better. you begin to realize she doesn't know what she's saying as she's saying it most of the time, sometime this week laughing during a bill cosby rape joke, and then stopping midway. Sheila was the most polished of the bunch, b ut they hardly let her on. but now that jayde is here, despite her rather dubious past of indirectly causing a contestant death.....she really is that strong personality that is needed in a show like this. Todd just doesn't have that when he hosts..especially when hes in a bad mood....

He can go two ways...he can be a team player and be the big hero OR he can be a bitch and be gone in 8 months. His choice!

Jayde has done radio in smaller markets like tampa and orlando..not NYC... Remember Darein O' toole...came from San Francisco.. or sacramento can't remember....she tanked..then Danny Bonaduce didnt last long.. Jay Thomas who had been in NYC before...gone..in 9 months.. I have been in philly awhile..so don't know more.. Jayde may be talented but if you don't get the ratings quick in NYC ..you're history. TV is a better medium..and more desired by most in Broadcasting. Radio is usually a stepping stone to TV for most. Just figured she wants to get into TV...in the big Apple..

Considering where this station is right now, there's not much further down for them to go, and clearly she's not the problem.

Everyone else will go before she does.

I agree. The people in power think she is the solution. If numbers don't rise, everyone else will be the problem before they look at her. They have a huge stake in this, so her success will reflect on them.

which is why considering what they did to scott, deep down I hope the numbers don't rise. and they continue to sink further. I wonder what they'd do if they dropped to #27 ;o)

Flip freqs with NASH!

I think they recognize that the advantages of a better signal would not result in substantially more revenue. The upside is greater for a more successful CHR or Hot AC, and I think that's where they're going. They really need to work on changing the image of 95.5 to something about ten years younger. They've begun that process with Jayde, but now they have to work on the music.

And that's what I think they TRIED to do with the Todd Show. A bunch of young 25 somethings taking the reigns with pop pop Todd heading things up. but that didn't work either.

I can't help but wonder if no matter what they do, they are never going to gain back their footing. People stick with a station for 20 years expecting more of the same, and then when that same changes, they abandon ship and go to other old stalwarts like lite or CBS FM

I agree, but I think it wasn't attracting any women. That's the sweet spot. Jayde has the potential to do that. Ask your wife or girlfriend what she thinks when you say: WPLJ. I doubt it's among her favorites.

got a time machine so I can find out when I can do that? ;o)

but seriously, that's an interesting point. I wonder how much their infamous billing went down?
if they really lost alot of Female viewers....no wonder they got rid of the todd show so fast.

I would think with the new co-host, they'll also start to work on the music as well.
It won't help, there are too many stations playing the same music here. The ones with the best brand image and execution win. PLJ got squeezed out and they're not going to make a comeback any time soon.

Better off to find a format hole and own it. I can think of a couple - Alternative would be nice but Classic Hip Hop probably makes the most sense.

I don't think anyone has had the "Most of our audience lives in the suburbs Jayde, so maybe quit posting stunning city view pics from your midtown apartment on social media and pretend to at least live the same struggle they do" conversation with her yet.
